Kelly Clarkson is paying tribute to a holiday classic this Halloween. The American Idol winner and host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, which premiered last month, treated fans to a cover of "I Put a Spell on You" during her show on Thursday.

For the special Halloween show, the two-time Grammy Award winner dressed as Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus as she performed the 1956 song written and composed by Jalacy "Screamin' Jay" Hawkins. The hit, which has been covered by Nina Simone, Annie Lennox and recently by Chaka Khan, was performed by Bette Midler in the 1993 Halloween classic.

As with most Clarkson covers, the performance was flawless. Not to me mention the costume, which matched Sanderson’s signature red hair and purple and green gown to a T. The singer was accompanied by two backup singers dressed as Sarah and Mary Sanderson.

During the entertainment portion of Clarkson’s talk show, which has been dubbed Kellyoke, the singer usually opens the show with a musical number. Last week, she covered Whitney Houston’s pop hit “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” She has also covered hits such as Martina McBride‘s “Independence Day,” Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time,” and Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.”

Clarkson has also recently re-recorded the Christmas classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” with John Legend, her fellow coach on The Voice. The song, which has often been criticized for its sexist lyrics, has been rewritten by Legend and comedian Natasha Rothwell of HBO’s Insecure.

The Christmas hit, which was written by Frank Loesser in 1944, is about a man trying to convince a woman to stay overnight on a cold winter’s night. Many have interpreted it as an ode to date rape. Rather than lyrics like “Gosh, your lips look delicious,” sung by the man, and “Say, what’s in this drink?” sung by the woman. The new version includes Clarkson singing, “What will my friends think (I think they should rejoice). If I have one more drink? (It’s your body, and your choice.)”
