Anytime there is a cheating scandal within a family and a child is a result of the affair, you can bet as sure as sunshine, there’s going to be a multitude of feelings that come as a result: hurt, shock, betrayal, anger, resentment, guilt, and more. Joseph Baena was born on October 2, 1997, to Mildred “Patty” and her husband, Rogelio Baena. Growing up, Joseph knew the good life. Though he didn’t come from a wealthy family, his mother worked as a housekeeper for Arnold Schwarzenegger, his wife, Maria Shriver, and their family which over the years included four children: Katherine, Christina, Patrick, and Christopher. Mildred and her children, daughter Jackie and son Joseph became fixtures in the Pacific Palisades mansion of the Schwarzenegger household since Mildred was there so often.

Half-Sisters Katherine & Christina Ignore Him Outright
It seems that big sis Katherine and Christina want nothing to do with Joseph. When Katherine married actor Chris Pratt in 2019, among the collection of well-wishes on Katherine’s Instagram was a simple comment from Joseph stating, “Congratulations!” followed with heart emojis. This seems generous considering that half-brother Joseph was not invited to the wedding.
Another point to ponder is that Katherine loves to post throwback photos of herself and her siblings as children. Her Instagram is chock-a-block full of them. Joseph is left out of trip down memory lane and this seemed especially cold on National Sibling Day when Katherine took to Instagram to write “I love them so much!” under a photo of herself and her sister and two brothers during their childhood.
Some of her Instagram followers immediately called her out for ignoring her half-brother but a Katherine supporter has told Page Six that they don’t blame Katherine and Christina for “not embracing a living reminder” of what destroyed their family. They also said that the affair was “deeply damaging” to the members of the family. While it’s clear that Katherine and Christina love their father maybe they are not ready to embrace their half-brother out of fear that this could be deemed as being disloyal to their mother in some way?
Patrick & Christopher May Have A Secret Relationship With Their Half-Brother
While it’s clear that Katherine and Christina do not have or appear to want to have a relationship with Joseph, sources close to the family state that Patrick and Christopher Schwarzenegger have, like everyone involved in this situation, had to adjust with the emotions that the exposed affair and the subsequent divorce of their parents caused in them. But in the end, according to the source, it does seem that Patrick and Christopher are forging some kind of a new relationship with Joseph, getting to know him as their half-brother rather than someone that they have grown up knowing as a family friend.
However, this is being done in secret or at least not acknowledged on social media presence. This could be due to Patrick and Christopher’s levels of emotional comfort or it could be because the brothers do not want to anger or upset their mother and sisters who might disapprove.
Father & Son Enjoy A Relationship Together (All Alone)
Luckily, while Joseph may not have a tight (or existent) relationship with his half-siblings, he has been able to connect with his father. He and the 73-year-old former Governor of California have been spotted as regulars at the local Gold’s Gym in Venice (prior to COVID-19). Since Joseph takes after his famous father so much physically and seems to really enjoy working out and challenging his physique, his dad has taken Joseph under his wing to mentor him when it comes to the proper ins and outs of pumping iron.
The father and son have also been seen taking travels together on social media and regularly take the time to wish each other happy birthday. By all appearances, the two seem to have a normal father-son relationship which is remarkable considering what has conspired. But we also have to take into consideration the fact that Joseph practically grew up in Schwarzenegger’s home and being that the movie star was seen, and still is, as a hero to many young boys, young Joseph likely saw him as a “father figure” of sorts from the very start.
At The End Of The Day, He Has His True Family Support
It's clear that Joseph has his father in his life which is wonderful for both of them. While he may or may not share a relationship with his half-brothers, Patrick and Christopher, he definitely does not have any relationship with half-sisters Katherine or Christina, much less their mother, Maria whom he does not share any familial relationship but knew well as a child.
However, when it comes down it, Joseph still always has a big smile on his broad face! We think that must be because he knows that he has true family support in the form of his mother, Mildred. According to his Instagram posts, he adores her and loves spending time with her. We're so glad that he is able to spend quality time with both of his parents.
Arnold Sent Him To Pepperdine For Which Joseph Appears To Be Very Grateful For
According to both proud papa Schwarzenegger and Joseph's Instagram, Joseph graduated from Pepperdine and this is something that the movie star was happy to fund. On social media, the mini-Arnold seems to be extremely grateful for the amazing gift and offers his thanks and appreciation to everyone from his father to the faculty and administration. Joseph graduated with a degree in business.
While his relationship with his half-siblings may not be picture-perfect, we haven't given up hope. As the old saying goes, time heals all wounds. Perhaps in time, the Schwarzenegger siblings will come together and allow their half-brother, Joseph into their tight-knit family unit.
