Former Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans has announced that she and David Eason, her husband of two years, have split. Evans was fired from the hit franchise earlier this year after Eason admitted to killing the family's French bulldog, Nugget and since she has come under fire from fans for staying with her husband.

“I’ve mostly kept off social media the past few days because I’ve been focused on making some big life decisions,” she began the message she posted on both Instagram and Twitter. “I’ve lived my life on camera since I was 17 years old. And a lot of it hasn’t been pretty but it’s been my life. Like anyone else I want what’s best for my kids and I want to be happy. With the time I took away from Teen mom I’ve started looking at my life differently and I know I need to make changes. I’m starting that now.”

Evans then went on to explain that one of the first changes she is making is to leave David. “The kids and I have moved away from David,” she continued. “Nobody gets into a marriage expecting it to end but I know that’s what is best for me, and for my kids. Today I've filed papers to start that process.”

Evans concluded the post thanking her fans for their continued support. “I appreciate the support from everybody who has asked how I am. Me and my kids are doing great. We need some time to be together. But you’ll hear from us again soon.”

The split comes after a tumultuous year for the former reality star. After Eason admitted to killing the family dog, stating that Nugget had bitten their 2-year-old daughter Ensley, Evans was fired from MTV and even lost custody temporarily of her children. The recent launch of her eyebrow kit was less than successful, with reports of dismal sales resulting in her being reportedly dropped by her cosmetics manufacturer just one week after launch. Reports also surfaced that Evans had only managed to seel 150 of the kits, with many criticizing the quality and the fact that it only came in one shade.

Evans fans seem thrilled that she and Eason have finally split, with many blaming her husband for being abusive and controlling, but others aren't convinced the split is real and think they're only doing it so MTV will re-hire Evans and she will continue to earn a steady paycheck.

For now, the former reality star seems intent on moving forward with her divorce from Eason, stating she's filed the papers to make things official.
