Inclined sleepers are a go-to for many moms, but unfortunately, more have been recalled over safety concerns. Dorel Juvenile Group USA has asked customers to return the Eddie Bauer Slumber and Soothe Rock Bassinet, and the Disney Baby Doze and Dream Bassinet. Moms.com reported previously that Kids II recalled over 700,000 of their baby sleepers, including Ingenuity, Bright Starts and Disney brands. According to the press release from CPSC, the recall comes on the back of infant fatalities while using other inclined sleep products.
While it's not clear if any fatalities have been reported for this specific product, it looks like Dorel aren't taking any chances. There are thought to be about 24,000 units currently in homes around America, purchased between November 2014 to February 2017. Parents are urged to stop using the product immediately and contact Dorel for a refund in the form of a $60 voucher. The Eddie Bauer Slumber and Soothe Bassinet model number BT055CSY and the Disney Baby Doze and Dream Bassinet with model number BT071DHS are the items in question. These numbers are easily located on a label on the underside of the fabric.
These products were sold at popular stores, including Target, Kmart, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx during the time frame mentioned above. They're designed to help babies sleep, but sadly, reports of fatalities started to surface. It's believed that little ones can roll onto their sides and stomachs, resulting in difficulty breathing, and ultimately, suffocation. The sleepers were sold for around $60 per item.
These rockers aren't the first products to be called into question in recent years. Staci and Greg lost their 8-month-old son, Trevor, when he was left to nap in a portable baby swing at his childminder's house. Sadly, the tot slipped down and became tangled in the shoulder straps during his nap, as his minder tended to the other children. By the time she noticed, it was too late. This isn't the only story of its kind. Retailers often place warnings on the sides of similar products warning parents not to leave children unattended while using the item.
