Some children of actors and actresses' children follow the same path that their parents took, all the way to Hollywood. While others want to carve a different path in their life, whether that be music, sports, or something different entirely. Our job as parents is to help mold them into the adult that they want to be and to help them navigate their chosen career path in life. Actor Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel are doing just that for their son, Walker, who is 10-years-old.

In an interview, Diggs said, "He doesn’t feel the need to follow in our footsteps." He then goes on to talk about all the amazing stuff that Walker is doing that he never got a chance to. He gushes over his son about how wonderful an athlete he is. He says that he really enjoys playing basketball, and when he isn't doing that, he can usually be found tossing a football around.

Walker was born in 2009 to the "Rent" alums. They have been co-parenting him since the two split up in 2014. Diggs really enjoys experiencing "both worlds" with his son, speaking of how his son gets to watch he and his mother do what they love, which is acting. Then as his parents, Menzel and Diggs get to watch Walker do the things that they never did. He called it "refreshing."

He also spoke about how easy it really is to co-parent with his ex, Idina Menzel. He said that it was easy, because they never "take a wrong step," because both of them always have Walker's best interests at heart.

He also points out that because Walker is such an easy-going and active kid, that that makes co-parenting that much easier. Diggs said that they are very grateful that it has been so easy to co-parent together.

During the whole pandemic, Diggs has been hanging around at home with Walker. He said that they have been swimming as well as having "great conversations." Along with Walker, Diggs is promoting "Camp Chewy," by the Quaker Oats company, where they recreate the live camping experience.

He said that they encourage playing with your kids while everyone is home. Ultimately, time will tell what career path Walker chooses in life, but there is no doubt about one thing. His parents are going to be proud of him, no matter what he chooses to do.
