Being a mom is one of the most rewarding, amazing things we do. Every day is filled with moments of joy and awe. But, it's also one of the hardest things we do, and even the days filled with love and happiness can feel heavy and impossible at times. We're responsible for being the world to these little humans, and that is an incredibly huge weight to carry. We want to be able to do it all, and we want to be able to carry that weight without the help and support of others. However, that's not how it should be, and it's why so many moms struggle. A post by Humans of New York went viral recently for the message that we all need to ask for help sometimes. There's absolutely nothing wrong with asking for help!

If you're not familiar with Humans of New York, it's a collection of stories of random people. It started in New York (hence the name), but creator Brandon Stanton has taken the phenomenon all over the world. The latest viral post shows a young mother breastfeeding her child, and she talks about how hard it is to ask for help when you're a mother.

This one really struck a cord with us. Because she's so right: it IS hard to ask for help when you're supposed to the Mom. You're supposed to be able to do this! We certainly shouldn't have to carry the weight of this massive responsibility alone, but society makes moms feel like they should be able to do it all, and do it with a smile.

The woman in the post talks about how she eventually had to ask for help, because trying to do it all was having a negative effect on her relationships. Rather than ask for help, she would jump right to anger and frustration when no one offered to help. Again, so much relating happening for us over here!

It really does take a village, and moms everywhere need to be able to rely on their village to get through it all. We're all just one person, trying to do the best we can. And sometimes, the best thing we can do is ask for help when we need it.
