It is very unfortunate, but there are a lot of moms out there who have found themselves victims of mom shaming. Mom shaming is not a new concept, but people are more open about sharing their experience with others and it can really help those who are struggling with it. It can help when celebrities share their stories as well, because it shows that they are human and they go through the same struggles that we all do.

Hoda Kotb is one of the hosts of the show, TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, and she recently spoke about her experience with mom shaming after she was told he was too old to have children, according to People.

Hoda, who is 56 years old, and she has a 3-year-old and a 17-month-old and she told her story about how she recently got a letter in the mail that said, "Who do you think you are, having kids at that age?" It was a very abrasive and aggressive letter and she was taken back by it.

She said that she remembers thinking to herself that she can not believe someone actually went through the process of writing that down, putting a stamp on it and sending it out in the world. She said that she did tear it up, literally, but that she felt horrible. Hoda said that there “is something that bothers you inside about that.” A lot of moms can relate to how Hoda felt, because even though the shaming is childish and (usually) completely inaccurate, it hurts.

Hoda hosts the show with Jenna Bush Hager, and Jenna had some affirming words for her co-host. She said that anyone who would write these words to her, obviously does not know what they are talking about. She said that because she knows how good of a mom Hoda is to her two small children because she sees her with them.

Jenna confirmed that the reason mom shaming can hurt so much is because moms are already questioning themselves endlessly. They are constantly wondering if they are doing the right thing for their children.

Hoda then said some pretty powerful words that are a good reminder to all moms out there. She said that anyone who mom shames another mom either does not have kids or they have forgotten how hard it is to be a mom.
