In terms of parenting struggles, packing lunch for school or daycare is often more of  conundrum or forgotten task that wakes you up in the middle of the night than a hardcore problem. Still, like with everything else in our digitally-enhanced world, it would be pretty awesome if someone (anyone!) could make the process a little easier, particularly in terms of keeping hot foods warm and cold foods cold.

Picky eaters don't just want their favorite brand of mac-and-cheese, they want it to be warm, not a congealed glob inside of their bento-style box that you so carefully curated the night before school. And that yogurt that tastes delish when it comes straight out of the fridge may find its biggest kid fan turns her nose up at it when it becomes room temperature (not that we can blame anyone for that).

Sure, there are cold packs and hot packs and thermoses that promise to keep soup warm throughout the day, but then you're dealing with a number of different components that all have to be carried to and from school without getting lost (or, sometimes worse, spilling).

Fortunately a savvy businesswoman who feels your pain has taken it upon herself to invent a lunchbox that sounds like pure magic because it really can keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold without using a gazillion pieces. Creator Nancy Yen calls it the OmieBox and it retails for $39.50.

The price might sound steep, but when you consider other popular bento-style boxes like Planet Box or YumBox sell for close to $80 and $30, respectively), and don't have the built-in hot and cold capabilities of the OmieBox, it feels like a steal.

So how does this unicorn-like box work? It uses two different types of insulation, both air and vacuum, along with an airtight seal that helps to minimize the transfer of heat. So you can use one compartment for warm pasta and the other for, say, crisp veggies, and the hot and cold won't affect one another. The bright colors are totally kid-friendly and the design easy for small fingers to open and close.

Parents will also love that the OmieBox is BPA- and phthalate-free, and super easy to clean. Yes, folks, lunch-packing just got easier.
