Since the first book was released in 1997, and then the first movie four years later, the Harry Potter series has been an absolute behemoth. It's one of those series that just keep getting more and more popular. Millions and millions and millions of people have read (and reread) the books, and watched (and rewatched) the movies countless times. So many of us grew up with Harry and Hermione and Ron and the whole gang, and waited patiently for our own post owl to bring us our Hogwart's admission letter (still waiting, just so you know). It's a timeless series - it really never gets old! The books and movies are as good today as they were 20 years ago, which is hard for a series to pull off. And with every year, a new generation of people falls in love with the story, which just helps it continue on. With the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter themeparks in the last few years, HP and his magical friends are enjoying a bit of a popularity surge. So it's no surprise that this year's hottest holiday item will probably be this Harry Potter advent calendar.
Funko, the makers of those adorable Pop vinyl figurines, is releasing a Harry Potter advent calendar this holiday season. The calendar contains 24 mini Funko Pop figurines, and is so stinking cool we can't even stand it.
Sure, you could do a boring ol' chocolate calendar this year. OR, you can get on the Hogwart's Express and ride that train all the way into Hogwart's with this amazing surprise-a-day calendar. 24 mini figurines is nothing to sneeze at! Those things are pretty collectible, especially among HP fans. All the favorites are there: Harry, Hermione, Ron, Hagrid, Dumbledore, Dobby, and even Hedwig. We imagine there's a Snape hidden behind one of those cardboard windows or doors, too. Can't have HP without everyone's favorite anti-hero, right?
The calendar was available for preorder on the WB Shop website and Entertainment Earth, but it looks like both sites have sold out of the preorder stock. Word on the street is it's also being released in Target stores, but you're going to have to act fast to make sure you can snag one. At $70, it's a bit more than we normally pay for an advent calendar, but as avid Harry Potter fans, it's worth every penny!
