The countdown is on to the scariest and spookiest day of the year! If you haven't already thought up your Halloween costume for this year, Lyst has come up with some of 2019's trendiest pop-culture-inspired costumes.

This year has seen a lot of theatrics in basically all areas of entertainment, media, and politics so there is no shortage of ironic, funny, clever, and iconic costume ideas. If you're interested in a costume that pokes fun that the (crazy, irrational, confusing) political climate consider a Brexit-inspired costume, or grab your girlfriends and go as "the squad" on Capitol Hill.

If you're not in the mood to spark political talk with your costume, consider dressing up as the most awesome celebrity to ever walk the planet (if you ask us), Lizzo. According to Lyst, searches for a "yellow one-piece swimsuit" went up 160% after her MTV VMA performance.

Movies are also seriously inspiring costumes this year. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood has created a demand for '60s clothing like calf boots and white skirts. All the buzz surrounding the latest remake of the classic book, Little Women has also made an impact on costumes this year with searches for "prarie dresses" up 45%. Disney is, of course, on the list as well as interest in dressing up as Will Smith's Genie from the live-action Aladdin seems to be a serious trend online.

TV is also influencing costumes this year in a serious way. There's the always-classic Addams Family costumes like Wednesday and Uncle Fester that continue to make the list year after year (you can't beat dressing up as the spooky family). Also, thanks to season three of Stranger Things, people are dying to dress up as their favorite Hawkins-saving characters - particularly the "Scoops Troop" (you know, the best part of the entire season). According to Lyst, searches for sailor suits have increased 250% since the show's third season dropped on Netflix.

Finally, there are the celebrity costumes (aside from Lizzo, because she's less of a celebrity and more of a queen if you ask us). The top three celebrity-inspired costume searches have been related to the late fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld, the Rocketman himself, Elton John, and Old Town Road singers, Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X. All a little over the top, and totally recognizable.

If you're still stumped for costume ideas, follow the lead of millions of others and go with a pop-culture-inspired getup. You'll be sure to be a hit at any party you go to. Pro-tip: if that party happens to be a kid's party, we suggest a character from Baby Shark.
