Halloween may be upon us, but due to COVID-19, it is not going to look how it usually does. Everyone is on the fence wondering if trick-or-treating is worth it this year. The CDC has listed the activity as a “high-risk” activity, but there are still some out there who desperately want to get their kids out there to collect some candy. A lot of moms realize just how much their children have lost this year, and they are trying to brainstorm on how they can still give their children a (close to) normal Halloween.

One mom came up with an amazing idea, and she shared it on her Facebook page. Wendy Reeves Winter came up with “Candy Sticking.” Candy sticking is her way of making sure that children can still get candy safely this year.

She places a piece of candy on a stick and then sticks it in the grass outside of her home. What is left is an adorable assortment of candy and the best part is, children can stay distanced while they collect some treats. It almost looks like a board game that has come to life. She gave some tips on how to make sure the candy sticking works and stays on the stick.

She says that you can use any kind of stick you want, but she has found that popsicle sticks work great, and they are no sharp at either edge so children won’t accidentally poke themselves. She also just uses regular scotch tape, so the items you need are probably in your craft drawer right now. She advises that you may want to tape all the sticks to your candy and then take them all outside. It is a great activity to do while you binge-watch your favorite show.

She also sent out a warning and said not to put the candy out too early, because apparently squirrels love Halloween candy. The lollipops all sprouting out of the earth sure looks adorable, and yes even those have their own stick because their handle is not long enough. The comment section is full of people praising her for the genius idea. One woman said that they are doing this at their church, and they have arranged them to look like a real-life Candyland game.

People were praising her creativity, and Wendy said that Halloween is her favorite holiday and she wants to try and make sure everyone can enjoy the day while being as safe as possible.
