Well, 2018 is just about over (can you believe it?!), so that means we're officially on trend watch for all things beauty and style in 2019. We're certainly hoping that some of the more, uh, interesting trends from 2018 are retired come January 1 (we really don't need any more deconstructed denim or fingernails that look like teeth, thanks). But it is exciting to see what trend watchers are predicting for the new year! When it comes to hair, the trends are always all over the place. Hair isn't something you can really change willy-nilly, you know? If you cut it all off for a trend, you've got to let it grow back before you can jump on the next hair bandwagon! So we're giving you a heads-up in advance of 2019, so you can plan your new hair accordingly and still be part of what's going to be big in hair trends in 2019.

Bold accessories, circa the 90's.

Oh man, we ROCKED the butterfly clips back in the day! Using them to hold up hair under a bun, or clips our bangs back. It looks like these cute little 90's hair accessories are set to make a comeback this year, along with strategically placed (read: lots of them) bobby pins.

Blunt bobs!

We love a good bob, and in 2019, we're going to see a shift away from the layered, longer bobs, with the blunt bob taking it's place. This one will hit above your shoulders, with a straight edge for a sleeker look.

Beehives!

This retro hairstyle was all over the runways during fall fashion shows. It's a great look if you can pull it off, and can be done casually or used for a more sophisticated up-do!

Baby bangs are going to be big in 2019.

This tiny fringe looks poised to be all over the place in 2019. We seriously adore this look. It can be drastic, but if you're going to be bangs, you might as well do them right, you know? Plus, by starting out so short, you can easily grow them out for a bit and give yourself time to decide on the length you love.

Soft, natural baby highlights are making a comeback.

Big, bold hair was everywhere for a while, but it looks like we're getting back to our roots ... sort of. Baby highlights are soft, subtle highlights in shades close to your natural color that give it just a little bit of dimension.

But if you're still into bold, lilac hair is going to be huge!

Pale purple hair looks to be one of the big hair trends in 2019, and we can totally see why. This beautiful light purple looks good on most everyone, and it's a great middle ground between natural and colorful.
