How much mermaid is too much? Is that even possible? Now your kids (or you, we won’t judge) can live your best mermaid life with General Mills’ new Mermaid Cereal.
Just in time for summer, Mermaid Cereal will make a splash sometime this month. The packaging alone is likely to catch the eyes of little shoppers. So, you might want to avoid the aisle if you have a mermaid lover in your home; as you likely won’t make it to the end of the aisle without a few boxes landing in your cart.
With light green and teal blue packaging, featuring an adorable mermaid with long, flowing, purple hair, we are sure the box will dive off of the shelves. If the bright colours, and pretty mermaid wasn’t enough, the wording is written in sparkly, foil coloured font. Who doesn’t love some well placed sparkle?

I have no idea if/when this MERMAID CEREAL will be released by @GeneralMills since this is just a Sales Sample box (from the wonderful @sega_retro_revival). But hopefully we’ll see it on shelves soon. We have Unicorn cereal here, so why not another mythical creature. Look forward to opening this box and trying it soon. . . . #cerealtime #cereal #cereals #cereales #breakfast #breakfastclub #snacks #junkfood #candy #cheatday #vegetarian #noms #instafood #instagood #eeeeeats #yum #vegan #diabetes #cerealkiller #breakfastlover #breakfasttime #nostalgia #mermaid #mermaidcereal #ariel #fish #ocean #prototype #newcereal #unreleased
So, we are all wondering the same thing. What will these star and tail shaped orange and teal puffs taste like?
According to Elite Daily, Mermaid Cereal tastes like orange and pineapple, which will leave the milk at the bottom of the bowl fruity and sweet. The sales sample packaging states that the cereal is, “naturally fruit-flavored sweetened corn puffs with other natural flavors.”
You might also be asking yourself, “on a scale of 1 to 10, how hard will my kids be bouncing off the walls after eating?” Well, Mermaid Cereal contains 150 calories/cup, and 12 grams of sugar in the same size serving.
So, while it may not be the healthiest way to kick off the day…it could be a special summer snack for the days when you can’t stand to hear the phrase, “do I have to eat this?” anymore.
An average sized box of Mermaid Cereal retails for about $3.99 and the family size box will set you back $4.99.
What do you think about Mermaid Cereal? Will it be splashing into your cereal bowls this summer?
