When Frozen came out in 2013, it set off an obsession that we hadn't seen in years. It wasn't just a movie - it was a way of life. Pretty soon kids were singing "Let It Go" with all the gusto of a Broadway superstar, and they were singing it ALL OF THE TIME. All hours of the day, every single day. "Let It Go" was the original "Baby Shark". It was everywhere, and it lasted for ... well, OK, so it's still going on. That movie is still a favorite among kids and adults, and for good reason!
It's magical and fun and full of adventure. Plus, the characters are as memorable as it gets! Elsa and Anna, sisters who are complete opposites but love each other fiercely. Kristoff and his faithful sidekick Sven. Those adorable rock trolls, the inn-owner Oaken, and of course everyone's favorite summer-loving snowman, Olaf. These are characters that have stuck with us from the moment we saw the movie for the first time over five years ago. And these are the characters that we'll be looking for when Frozen 2 blasts into theaters. If you've been waiting with bated breath to find out when the next installment comes out, we have some good news. Frozen 2 has an official release date!
We knew it was coming, and we knew it would be released at the end of the year in 2019. But the exact date hadn't been set in stone yet. Until now! Frozen 2 will officially hit theaters on November 22, 2019. Just in time for the long Thanksgiving weekend and of course, just in time for the holidays. We love when family movies like this get released when we have a lot of family time to fill. Kids will be out of school, plenty of parents take vacation for the holidays, and now we have the sequel to one of our favorite Disney movies ever to look forward to! The cast of the movie has been sharing photos of themselves together, which is getting us even more excited.
Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and Jonathan Groff - together again! Josh Gad's IG post has even more good news, too. A stuffed Sven is getting some smooches from everyone, and he tagged Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on Sven's face. Could it be?! Is The Rock going to voice Sven?? Let's remember, as Maui in Moana, he did transform into Sven briefly. So we think that might have been quite the Easter egg, and Josh's post seems to confirm. We know Olaf probably would have preferred the movie be release IN SUMMERRRRRRRRRR, but we'll just have to wait until November 22 to check it out.
