Motherhood is a constant reminder that we're all just getting older and for many Americans, anti-aging products and routines are a big priority. We live in a media-obsessed world where women especially are praised for looking youthful even as we age. It's only natural that women seek out products, advice, and routines that will keep their skin taut and glowing. In fact, we're targeted to buy those products.
A new survey has uncovered just how desperate some are to remain youthful. The survey results found that two in five adults are "so obsessed" with looking younger, they'd be willing to try anti-aging products and routines that don't even exist. Study Finds reported that 2,000 American adults were surveyed about their opinions on getting older and anti-aging products. The survey had questions asking adults if they would try certain anti-aging treatments and 2 in 5 adults said "yes" to these treatments even though they don't actually even exist.
When they were asked to identify anti-aging products, they would be willing to try, the survey participants were willing to try treatments that were made up for the survey. Among them were Xenon injections chosen by 17%, stratum fillers are wanted by 17% and 14% were willing to try young blood. Other results found that 77% of participants said aging gracefully is a big priority for them. Self-care is also a huge priority for many as well.
This survey was done for Tru Niagen, a vitamin created to make the aging process easier. Dr. Alyssa Dweck is the medical advisor for Tru Niagen spoke about what the only tried and true routine to age slowly and gracefully. Dr. Dweck says the secret to aging gracefully is easy. She said:
“Developing long-term healthy habits early on is the most effective way to optimize health and well-being as you age. Age gracefully by maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly and managing stress at each stage of life.”
While staying young and using anti-aging products are popular, the actual knowledge of these beauty routines and products isn't well known. This survey further showed some ignorance among health facts that should have many questioning what they really know about anti-aging advice. For example, over a third of people surveyed believed they could cancel out a high-calorie meal with a healthy one later. That isn't the case.
Aging isn't easy and can be hard for many to accept. As they say, the youth is wasted on the young. 54% of these adults also admitted to trying some anti-aging technique they saw on Youtube. Yet 74% say they would like to embrace their age as the years go one.
