A lot of celebrities are under a microscope right now and everything they have ever done and said is being closely monitored. As the Black Lives Matter’s protests began, people began speaking out against racism and other issues and they are calling out celebrities who engaged in this type of behavior. One of the more surprising “villains” was Ellen DeGeneres.

Ellen has been a talk show host for years now, and before that she was an actress and a comedian. She was known for her humor and for being just the best person in the world. She always appeared to be so kind and caring, and often spoke out against injustices in the world.

However, we are quickly learning that it takes a lot more than just handing out some free cars to people in need to be considered “good.” Ellen has been facing some backlash from former employees accusing her of “racism, sexual harassment and workplace toxicity” according to USA Today.

Ellen has just announced that her show will be returning for Season 18 on September 21. This is after calls to cancel and rumors that the show would not be returning in the fall. Ellen made the announcement in a press release, and she also said that “yes, we are going to talk about it.” This can only mean that she means to address the accusations she is facing.

The show did launch an investigation into the accusations made and an internal review was completed, and three producers have been let go from their jobs. Ellen had addressed the accusations in an earlier statement saying that when the show first started, she stated that this would be a “place of happiness,” She said that no one would ever raise their voice and everyone would be treated with respect. She acknowledged that something had changed, but she relied on those who knew her to know this was not how she is.

Many celebrities have come to Ellen’s defense throughout the allegations; however it will be interesting to see her guest list line up as the show progresses. Her announcement of wanting to address the issues may make a few fans come back to watch the show, fans that had sworn to be done with the comedian.
