One of the great things about social media, and apps like TikTok, is that it gives anyone the chance to be “famous.” Thousands of people joined the popular app back in March as a way to beat the boredom of quarantine, and people are really exploding and getting their name out there. They become influencers and have the chance to reach millions of people. Sometimes, it comes from an unlikely place as well.

According to Cosmopolitan, an Egyptian TikToker is making headways and her content is so hilarious and relatable that it can make you forget about everything going on in the rest of your life. The best part is that her videos feature her equally hilarious mom, showing how deep the bonds of moms and their daughters can go.

Mai is the young lady’s name and her videos are incredibly humble and down-to-earth, but her most loved videos are the ones that she does with her mother. The pair team up to make some of the most relatable videos, which make them hilarious. Mai has over 140,000 followers on Instagram, and she is a verified creator on TikTok, so she is just getting started.

Cosmopolitan asked Mai how she first got started on the app and she said that she started out as a curly hair/fashion blogger because at the time she thought Instagram was all about looks. She said that when she started posting stories with her mom, she noticed that there was a real lack of relatable content out there. Content that was real.

Mai said that while she never thought she would ever go viral; she has always put a lot of thought into her videos. She started off with showing her mom’s reactions in the moment to certain things and when she saw that people loved it and related to it, it grew from there. Mai even touched on the difficult conversation about being an Arab living in the US, but Mai said that there is a strong community of Arab American’s and that she is surrounded by love and support from everyone.

Her sweetest testament came when she was asked about inspirational women in her life, and she said her mom. Mai said that she owes every single bit of her success to her mom. That her mom has encouraged her to do anything she wanted since she was a little girl.

She said her mother has always been independent and has succeeded in everything she has ever put her mind too.
