Love them or hate them, the Duggar family is stepping up in a big way to do what they can to help the victims of Hurricane Dorian. The massive hurricane is already responsible for deaths of 20 people in the Bahamas and is the strongest hurricane to ever make landfall there, according to CNN. Dorian, said to have caused "generational devastation," has wiped out entire neighborhoods in some areas and will require a massive relief effort to help those who have been affected.

Duggar family members John David, Jana, Jason, and James Duggar, as well as sister Joy's husband Austin Forsyth, joined Christian disaster relief group Medic Corps and flew to the Bahamas on September 3 to do what they can to help with relief efforts. Family friends Lawson and Nathan Bates, who starred in the reality show Bringing Up Bates, also traveled with the Duggar clan. The Duggar Family official Instagram shared a picture of the crew, without Jana present, as they prepared to board their plane.

"John, Jana, Jason, and James took off early this morning with a medical and disaster relief team to the Bahamas to help after the massive devastation from #HurricaneDorian . They’re now on the ground! Please keep the team and all who’ve been affected by this horrific storm in your prayers!" read the caption.

“Hard goodbyes!" Joy captioned a selfie featured on her Instastories of herself and Austin before his departure. "But so thankful that he can use his EMT skills to help others.”

Medic Corps announced in a press release that "Medical Evacuation Disaster Intervention Corps (MEDIC) has dispatched several aircraft including fixed-wing and helicopter and a volunteer emergency response team of cross-trained specialists to the area. The team is already coordinating rescue efforts with the appropriate Bohemian authorities to provide emergency response to impacted residents in the Bahamas."

While some commenters have questioned what the Duggar family members would actually be doing to help, many pointed out that John David is a licensed pilot and constable, so he would have first aid training. Joy mentioned Austin's EMT skills and all of the Duggars are known to be incredibly handy, often building and renovating properties for themselves and others.

Fans are applauding the family members for being able to travel to the affected area and do anything they can to help the people who need it the most.
