Nothing says summer like catching a baseball game with the family, right? Peanuts, Cracker Jacks, the wave, and of course, the singing of the National Anthem. Now, typically a performer of some kind comes out to wow the crowd at a game. It's always one of the best parts of the evening, with the crowd getting into it and singing along. Some performances are awe-inspiring, some are cringe-worthy, and some are so adorable and funny that they catapult the singer straight into super stardom! We have a feeling that this little 3-year-old boy will fall into the latter category, after absolutely crushing his rendition of the National Anthem at an Auburn Doubledays game in Auburn, New York.
Drake Grillo, 3 whole years old, is a Doubledays fan and was taking in a game with his family. He was asked to sing the National Anthem at the last minute, and like a true natural-born star, he stepped up the challenge. And he NAILED IT!
Auburn Doubledays fans are the best in the world. Especially when they are up and coming super fans like Drake! Hey ESPN why don't you give this kid a shout out! Plus look how cute he is.Posted by Auburn Doubledays on Thursday, July 12, 2018
OK, can we talk about this?! First of all, Drake is just about the cutest little thing we've ever seen. Secondly, he's a 3-year-old who knows the Star Spangled Banner! Most 3-year-olds we know can't even sing the ABC's without switching around a few letters. He is INTO this performance, and honestly, the R's turning to W's really add a little extra something to the performance.
Obviously, Drake killed this performance, and the crowd just ate it up. But the best part? He was interviewed afterward, and his confidence just shoots through the screen.

Drake says he wasn't nervous at all before taking the field for the performance, but his mom can't say the same! Chelsea Grillo says she was nervous, but was so very proud of him. Apparently Drake is a big sports fan, and has been singing (and practicing!) the anthem since the winter. So he was more than ready for his big debut! He was planning (lol, he's a toddler so that's the cutest) on singing the anthem at an upcoming fundraiser game to benefit people with hip dysplasia, like his one-year-old sister Saylor. But when he got the call to step in early, he rose to the challenge. And now Drake is in hot demand! He'll be singing the anthem again on July 29, for the Sips and Flips for Hips benefit game. He's a pro, so we have no doubt he will kill that performance, too!
