Disney Princess Snow White Soothes Boy With Autism At Epcot

Sometimes we need a reminder that the world isn't a total dumpster fire. Whenever we can find small moments of joy, we have to revel in them. That's what one mom discovered on a family trip to Disney World. Her son has autism and during a particularly rough moment, relief came from an unexpected source, Snow White.

Lauren Bergner shared the story of how Snow White helped her son Brody on Facebook and it has blown up. And rightfully so. The princess went above and beyond her job to make Brody comfortable and happy. As Bergner explains, talking to Brody, who is non-verbal, in advance about changes to his norm helps him adjust. But as she understands, sometimes meltdowns are inevitable for the little boy. He is sensitive to noise and crowds, and Disney World has no shortage of either of those things.

That's why she knew things were getting tough for the boy while they waited to meet Snow White at Epcot. Though he had been having a good day with his two older brothers, it was a super hot day and he was just running out of steam.

“Brody was overheated, sweating and overwhelmed by everything,” Bergner tells TODAY Parents. “He just started crying." And that's when Snow White came to the rescue.

“She kissed, hugged and cuddled him,” Bergner explains in her Facebook post. "He was laying his head crying on her lap." And that's not all she did. "She then took him for a walk away from the crowd," she adds. "She held his hand, danced with him, took him over to a bench and sat with him." Not only were Bergner and her husband amazed by Snow White's kindness, they were in shock. Never before had they seen Brody connect with a stranger that quickly.

“I lost it. I was crying,” Bergner explains to TODAY Parents. “She lead him to a bench and he was leaning into her and she was hugging him. Brody loves squeezes and soft, soothing voices." In her Facebook post, she says "She was magical and my family is forever thankful and touched!"

And the other people waiting in line? How did they handle the change in program? “I turned around and they started clapping,” Bergner says.

Thankfully, a Disney World photographer captured all of this, so the family has the memory to cherish forever. It goes without saying, but that Snow White is likely the Bergner family favorite now.
