Comic book movies and TV shows are massively popular right now, and we are loving it! From huge blockbusters like Black Panther and the Avengers series to smaller shows like Luke Cage and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., die hard comic book fans and recent converts have plenty to keep them entertained. We're also seeing some major girl power come out of all of this, especially after the worldwide success of Wonder Woman. The fact is, women and girl superheroes are some of the most popular characters in the comic book universe, and we love seeing them brought to life on screens big and small. Not only are they awesome and powerful, but they're great role models for our own girls! The newest addition to this comic book girl power movement is an animated series on Cartoon Network called DC Super Hero Girls, and we have to say, this looks FANTASTIC.

The animated DC Super Hero Girls has been a franchise on YouTube since 2015, but it's making the jump to television very soon. The series kicks off on March 8 with an hour-long movie called DC Super Hero Girls: Sweet Justice. Following the movie, the series DC Super Hero Girls slides into its regular time slot on Cartoon Network. Episodes will air every Sunday at 4 p.m. ET/PT. The series is led by executive producer Emmy-winner Lauren Faust and Sam Register, who executive produced the popular YouTube series.

The series centers on some really well-known female superheroes as teenagers. We'll see Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl in their superhero form, but also as their alter-egos. Diana, Kara, and Barbara will try to fight crime and keep the citizens of Metropolis safe while also trying to juggle the ups and downs of being teen girls. School, friends, family, and of course, lots of teen drama! It's not easy being a superhero, but it's a lot harder to manage those amazing powers while also trying to find your way in the world as a teenager. We can't wait to watch this show, and we are so excited to introduce these awesome characters and their stories to our own kids!
