It is not a big secret that sometimes parents tell little white lies to their children. They do it to either get out of doing something or to get their child to stop doing something they don’t want them to do. These are normally seen as harmless interactions that don’t tend to have too many consequences. However, one dad learned the hard way that he has to be careful what he tells his son.
The dad posted his story on Reddit, and he listed it in the “Think I F---ed Up” page searching for some help and advice. He starts off by saying that he has a 4-year-old boy who likes to dance around naked after his bath and while he is being changed. He says it is adorable, but it is starting to “get old.”
He also reaches out to any other boy parents out there who know the fascination a young boy has with his private parts. He decided to create a fictional character to try and get his son to stop touching and showing off his private. He created the “Pecker Snatcher.” He told his son that if he didn’t keep it away, the snatcher would come and take it. His son said that it couldn’t be true, but dad seemed able to convince him. He convinced him by telling him that is what happened to his sister, his son quickly put on his pants. (We're are laughing hysterically with you!)
A few days later, dad learned the repercussions of his lie. His son and daughter had come together to give the snatcher a life story and a plot. They were taking this very seriously. Dad learned that the snatcher is now a man who has a basket full of little boy privates that he carries with him at all times. Dad was willing to still brush it off, until he learned that his children are now telling this story to their grandparents, teachers and anyone else who will listen.
He says that now he is the “weirdo.” The man likely got some relief when he looked at the comments on the thread, because everyone had similar stories. They all could relate to him and shared their own experiences with their children and relaying of information to others that is embarrassing. Others also pointed out that what his son does is completely normal and maybe it would be best practice to just ignore the behavior instead of drawing attention to it. Either way, dad now has a hilarious story to tell at his son’s wedding.
