One moving company is making it a lot easier for families affected by domestic violence to leave their current situation. Domestic violence is a problem that has been affecting families for years, and it is something that has only increased in the last year.

With COVID-19 forcing everyone to stay at home, it has made it easier for a mom and her children to become victims. According to Futures Without Violence, in 2006, 15.5 million children lived in families where there was domestic violence. It is imperative that these families get the help they need to leave.

However, leaving is not as easy as packing your bags and leaving. Women need resources to be able to leave, and one company is trying to help the only way they can. According to Good News Network, College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving have been helping families all across the US and Canada.

They have already completed over 100 moves for women and children who are the victims of domestic violence, and they are offering their services for free. Nick Friedman is the co-founder of the company and he said that their program, Free Moves for Survivors of Domestic Violence, is helping to shed some light on an important issue that is not always talked about. He said that their company is always looking for ways to make a positive impact on their community.

They are not the first company to offer this service. Five years ago, Meathead Movers, also offered this service and last year, they donated more than $150,000 worth of services. However, the more companies that offer this, the more families they can help. College Hunks Hauling is now extending their service over all of their 131 locations across the US and Canada, and they are offering up their trucks and labor at no cost.

If there is a woman out there who is looking to get out and needs this service, the first thing she needs to do is to contact her local domestic violence-prevention shelter to let them know about their situation. A domestic violence-prevention will need to approve and coordinate the services, but this is only to make sure that the family in need is supported through the entire process. This company does a lot for their communities, and they have been helping donate food to children in need and transporting COVID-19 tests, and you can read more about their philanthropy actions on their website.
