Olivia Jade Is Taking A Year Off From Social Media After The College Bribery Scandal

In light of the recent college bribery scandal and subsequent arrest of her parents, YouTuber Olivia Jade is reportedly taking a break from social media. According to friend and fellow YouTuber Tana Mongeau, Olivia Jade is looking to take a break from the platform that made her a household name for at least a year. “She openly tells people, ‘I’m not gonna post on social media for the next, like, year,’” Mongeau said in a recent video on her own channel. Mongeau, who filmed the segment with fellow YouTubers Shane Dawson and Ryland Adams as well as Morgan Adams went on to openly discuss Olivia Jade's current situation with her friends. "It sucks because I feel like she didn’t even wanna go to college," Mongeau commented before adding, "I think the mom just really wanted her daughters to …" Adams added jumped in stating he thought Loughlin wanted bragging rights among her Bel Air friends that her "daughters went to USC."

Olivia Jade has kept mostly silent since both her parents were charged with money laundering and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud when they were accused of paying $500,000 in bribes to secure admission to USC for both Olivia Jade and her older sister Isabella Rose. Jade lost a number of lucrative sponsorship and endorsement deals since news of the scandal broke and hasn't posted publicly on Instagram since February and on YouTube since March.

Waiting may be part of Olivia Jade's master plan to make her comeback as a beauty influencer. "Olivia has been emotional in the midst of all of this and definitely wants to make a comeback and still wants to be a beauty influencer," a source told Us Weekly previously. "She understands she needs to hide out for now and lay low, but she’s anxious to be back in the spotlight again and thinks that over time she’ll be able to come back."

Time will tell if her audience once again welcomes her into their social media feeds and if she's able to rebuild her brand. Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli have both plead not guilty to the charges brought against them so they are still awaiting further court appearances. Olivia Jade has yet to speak out publicly on the college admission scandal.
