Not only has the college admissions bribery scandal involving former Fuller House star Lori Loughlin gotten more serious with the actress facing additional charges after failing to plead guilty in her initial court appearance earlier this week, but it seems it may be wreaking havoc on her personal relationship with her husband as well.

Loughlin and husband, clothing designer Mossimo Giannulli, are two of the most notable names attached to the Varsity Blues college admissions cheating scandal. The suit alleges that the couple paid upwards of half a million dollars in bribes to secure admission for their daughters, Isabella, and Olivia Jade, to the University of Southern California.

After failing to plead guilty to the initial charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud the couple were then charged with conspiring to commit fraud and money laundering. Both those charges can carry a maximum prison term of 20 years each.

The potential of having to serve jail time is allegedly causing some strife between the couple, who have been married for almost 22 years. "There's a rift between Lori and Mossimo," a source told E! News. "He is completely mortified by this whole thing, and she is putting on a happy face and acting like everything will be OK."

The source adds that the couple is beginning to shift the blame for this extremely serious situation on each other. "They are blaming each other and disagreeing on things," continues the source. "They are starting to turn on each other, and there are incredible stress and tension."

There have also been reports of strain between Olivia Jade and her parents. The once incredibly popular YouTuber and fashion influencer has seen her stock fall since the scandal made headlines, losing lucrative marketing deals and advertisers. One source told US Weekly that Olivia blames her parents for her professional troubles as a result of the scandal.

“Now that her endorsement deals have fallen through, she is very upset with her parents. Olivia didn’t even show interest in going to college, she wanted to take time and work on her beauty career, but her parents were the ones who wanted her to get an education.”

A source also told E!News that Lori is finally beginning to realize just how serious a situation she is in. "Lori finally realizes just how serious this is," says the source, who also stated that the actress regrets not accepting the initial plea deal. "She is seeing the light that she will do jail time and is freaking out."

It seems the potential to actually serve jail time is becoming a frightening potential reality for the couple. "Their lives will never be the same," an insider told E!. "They are scared, and they don't know what's coming next. It all feels like a terrible nightmare."
