There are a handful of truly perfect movies, in our humble opinion. Now, we don't mean moves that are technically perfect, or have an award-winning cast, or something along those lines. We don't use that sort of metric to decide whether or not a movie is perfect. To us, a perfect movie is one that stands the test of time, and is just as good today as it was however many years ago when you saw it for the first time. A perfect movie makes us fall in love with the characters in such a way that we always think of them as those character, no matter how many other movies and TV shows they are in. To us, a perfect movie is one that you can quote verbatim from start to finish without missing a line (and complete strangers will join in and recite dialogue with you in public!). By these very high standards, there are but a handful of perfect movies. And Clueless is one of them! So whoever decided to remake it needs to knock it off right this very second.

Apparently, the Clueless remake is already in the works. That means someone thought it would be a good idea to destroy the best part of 1995! The teen comedy starring Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz and Paul Rudd as her ex-stepbrother-turned-boyfriend does not need to be remade. Quite the contrary: the original should be preserved forever as a testament to how filmmakers can make movies that speak directly to the youths!

Word on the street is that the remake will be produced by Girl's Trip writer Tracy Oliver, and written by Marquita Robinson, who writes for the Netflix show GLOW. So ... no Amy Heckerling. Mmmmkay. Also, we have to assume that none of the original cast would be coming back, either. So someone else will be playing Cher, and Dionne, and Tai, and Josh. Honestly, the more we read about this, the madder we get.

Just leave our movies alone! Leave the good stuff alone. Please, we beg of you. There is so much material out there, there's no need to continue rehashing the same old stuff. Nobody wants a new Clueless!
