If your child’s favorite Chuck E. Cheese location seems a little different, looks a little different, or even smells a little different, there’s a good reason why. That’s because the franchise has just revealed a new modern-style design, leaving many moms and dads impressed with their new look. Gone are the buzzing lights and the noisy coin machines for more of a parent-friendly experience and atmosphere for moms and dads. It is all part of the company’s rebranding effort that aims to improve the customer experience for parents and kids.

According to ABC 13, the first ultra-modern and redesigned Chuck E. Cheese will be located in Houston. There will be a mix of new and old games, with many of the animated characters that kids love staying put.The renovations also boasts new technology as well. Customers get a beeper when they order to alert them when their food is ready.

The latest redirection features more muted colors and modern decor. Chuck E. Cheese is getting rid of their greasy pizza, bright colors and flashing lights for better options for the more health-conscious crowd instead. The Irvington-based company has also updated its furniture and menu, adding food more appetizing to adults such as house-made pizza, sandwiches and wraps.

That’s not the only change that customers can expect. The new locations will have a light-up dance floor and hourly live shows instead of the animatronic show. In the arcade game area, Play Pass cards will replace tokens. Tickets redeemable for prizes will still be around.

From the outside, the gaming and dining facility will look different, too. Chuck E. Cheese's exterior is also getting a facelift, ditching the purple-and-red awnings and checkerboard paneling as well as the iconic logo of its mouse mascot Chuck E. The new design also features softer colors, more refined signage and an updated logo.

But this isn’t the first time that the company has tried to modernize and enhance their locations for the sake of parents nationwide. In 2012, the company switch out its mascot’s fingerless gloves and backwards cap for a new outfit and a slimmer physic.

As far as the company’s slogan, it will remain the same: Chuck E. Cheese will always be a place where a kid can be a kid. And at least a parent can be a parent, but without their pulsating headache.
