It is absolutely heartbreaking when anyone loses a child. The expecting parents are always heartbroken and the world cries with them and sends them love and prayer. However, they are often not the only ones affected by such a loss. When a parent loses a baby when they have older children at home, it presents another level of heartbreak. They now have to go home and have that difficult conversation with their children about why a baby will not be going home with them.
Chrissy Teigen and her husband, John Legend, just went through unimaginable pain when they lost their third baby while Chrissy was pregnant. The baby, whom they had lovingly named Jack, would not be coming home, and they had to talk about it with their older children. Specifically, Luna, 4, who is old enough to understand pregnancy and that a baby normally comes at the finish line.
According to People and Chrissy Teigen’s official Instagram page, Luna had a special way to honor her baby brother’s life. Chrissy said that she wanted to share the moment, because she wanted to remember just how empathetic her little girl is, and she described it as a “beautiful moment.”
The moment came right after the couple had received the ashes of their baby boy and the video showed the box of ashes sitting next to a teddy bear. Chrissy, then, went on to say that her daughter came down and placed a teddy bear next to the box and even shared some of her snack with her baby brother. Chrissy called her daughter “amazing,” and we can all agree.
She also wrote in the post that their home is very open about life, death, and grief. She said that she and John are not afraid to talk about these topics with their children, and they are eager to answer all questions that their children have for them.
In another video, Luna can be seen introducing the teddy bear to her brother and even having the two interact with each other. Some may not agree with Chrissy’s open policy when it comes to such serious issues in life, but it is likely that Luna would be asking questions about what happened.
Chrissy has been opening up about her loss and what that has meant to her and how she has been feeling. While these stories are never comfortable, it can be comforting to those who have suffered similar stories and help them heal.
