Chrissy Teigen's mother, Vilailuck Teigen, affectionately known to fans as Pepper, has shared pictures and video of the heartbreaking moment she said goodbye to her grandson, Jack. Teigen and husband John Legend tragically lost their unborn son earlier this week after the model and cookbook author was taken to hospital with uncontrollable bleeding. Teigen, who announced her pregnancy in August, had previously been put on bed rest. Although her children Luna and Miles were conceived using IVF, she announced this pregnancy was a surprise and she didn't even realize she was pregnant during surgery to have her breast implants removed.

Pepper, who lives with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, posted a tear-jerker tribute to her grandson on Instagram. The post included a video capturing the moment where she first sees Jack, swaddled in blankets, and two photos showing her teary-eyed, holding the baby. "My heart aches love you so much baby Jack," she wrote.

Just a few days ago Teigen had posted from the hospital about her "really scary morning" adding that it felt "like hours" to hear her son's heartbeat again. Fans quickly grew worried after a full day passed without any further updates.

Tragically, her next post revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage. "We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before," Teigen wrote. "We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough." She added that while she and Legend typically waited until the last minute to name their children, they had already given their son a nickname. "For some reason, we had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack," she wrote. "So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever."

Teigen has been unfairly criticized on social media for sharing pictures of her family's anguish after their loss, but many others are applauding her for helping to de-stigmatize miscarriage and normalize grief. Teigen is always so open and honest with her fans about everything it would seem inauthentic if she didn't share such a major part of her life. Many have applauded her for normalizing grief and pregnancy loss and making it easier for others to speak out about it.

Pepper's video and pictures also show that pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and miscarriage affects so many people, including extended family and friends. Pepper's sadness, tears, and pain not only for the loss of her grandson but for her own daughter's heartbreak is evident in the video of her meeting Jack.

Teigen thanked her fans for their support writing, "Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you." She went on to add, "We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience. But everyday can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it."

Sending much love to Chrissy, John, and their entire family.
