This week, Meghan Markle shocked the world when she revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage this summer. The news came from a deeply personal op-ed for the New York Times, and followed the same news that Chrissy Teigen had shared with the world just a few weeks prior.

While most fans were touched by Meghan's real and honest depiction of her miscarriage, In Style reported that some critics took to social media to spew negative commentary about the way Meghan revealed this news, and questioned the reason she may have opted to share this with the general public.

Clearly this is still a sensitive topic to Teigen and something she feels so passionately connected to right now. She immediately took to social media to vehemently defend Markle, while simultaneously tearing a strip out of the person who put up the trolling post.

Meghan Markle poured her heart out in the essay for the New York Times, and she dove into great detail to describe the very moment she knew she was losing her unborn baby. The devastating moment was perfectly and painfully captured as she penned the words, "I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child that I was losing my second." She intended to write this as a way to break the barriers of unspoken pain that torments those who suffered the loss of a child.

In her essay, as reiterated by Marie Claire she went on to say, "Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal."

This is a portrayal of a moment that Teigen can relate to through her own life experiences, and a feeling that so many women across the world could also relate to. Yet, somehow, a few critics deemed it appropriate to question this entirely.

When @marcigiann on Twitter posted a comment that didn't resonate well with Teigen, she wasted no time lacing into him with a scorching tweet.

"Award for today's absolute piece of s--t goes to Marco Giannangeli. Congratulations, piece of s--t," she wrote, and then deleted the text a short time later, stating that she is "trying to be nicer."

The Mayo Clinic reported that nearly 10% to 20% of all pregnancies result in a miscarriage. This is sadly a common occurrence, yet there doesn't seem to be enough in the way of open dialogue about this taboo topic.

Meghan Markle was trying to create an open forum and express her innermost feelings, in spite of the pain. By setting an example and conveying her thoughts and sharing her experience, it was her hope that others would feel comfortable enough to do the same. Chrissy Teigen has also been forthcoming about her loss and admits to be struggling to cope. Perhaps if there was less negative commentary on the topic, more women around the world would also be able to heal through sharing their stories.
