According to Racked, direct-to-sleep company Casper wants to give moms and customers in general a place to nap by opening up their own sleep lounge in New York City. They will be offering customers a place to take a nap right in the middle of the lounge. For $25, you can take a nap in a Casper bed for just 45 minutes.
Called the Dreamery, this new “nap destination” will feature little sleeping pods that will be furnished with Casper mattresses along with Casper sheets, pillows, blankets, socks, and even an eye mask. The staff will make sure that there is fresh linen available for each guest before their nap along with several items on loan. This will include a set of pajamas by Sleep Jones, a toothbrushing set from Hello, a face wash from Sunday Riley and audio tracks from Headspace, should you have a hard time falling asleep right away in your pod.
Casper’s Senior Vice President Eleanor Morgan says that the company has been working on their new “nap destination” for about a year now. She says one of the perks of their Dreamery lounge is that it’s both serene and calming, with dark blue paint, couches, books, free coffee and snacks. There’s even twinkling stars on its walls.
“A lot of people need a break but don’t have a place for it, whether they’ve taken the redeye and need a place to crash, or are far minutes away from home and need to settle down for a bit during a 14-hour work day,” Morgan says. “We’re passionate about creating a cultural movement around sleep, and we think a lot about how to give people different ways to rest and recharge.”
After all, many parents will tell you that taking a mid-day nap is usually one of the things that tired moms and dads want the most, but unfortunately just don’t have the time for. As a matter of fact, many health experts say that more and more people are sleep deprived everyday. A short nap of 20-30 minutes can help to improve mood, alertness and performance. But because of our busy schedules and lifestyles, no one has the time to take a nap, or worse, get at least the recommended 8 hours of sleep every night.
And while the Dreamery lounge is right next door to Casper’s flagship store in New York City, unfortunately guests won’t be getting any additional discounts on Casper products. For those looking to sign up for a nap, the pods can be booked on the Dreamery site or apps like MindyBody and ClassPass.
