It seems impossible these days to be on social media and not follow the hilarious actress and mom Busy Philipps. She and her husband Marc Silverstein have two daughters, 10-year-old Birdie, and five-year-old Cricket. Busy often posts videos and photos of her family life, and people love following her because she is so much more like a regular person than a famous one.

People love hearing how celebrity moms raise their children because it's fun to learn more about someone that they admire and it can also be a great way to get some mom advice.

Busy seems like the kind of person that would feel like an instant friend and many moms think that she would be the best girlfriend to grab dinner with and chat about everything going on in their lives.

Since that's (sadly) not possible, the next best thing is taking a look at how she raises her two adorable daughters. First of all, they have the coolest names ever, so moms already know that there's a lot to learn from this funny mama. How did Cricket get her name? What does Busy think about perfection, lunches, having it all, and more? Here are 20 ways that Busy Philipps raises her daughters.

20 A Laissez-Faire Attitude

She Knows quoted Busy as saying that she's definitely a go-with-the-flow type of mother. She said,

“I call myself the all-over-the-place, doesn’t-have-a-plan mom. Is that a parenting philosophy?” she quipped. “Our family has no absolute rules about screen time or sugar or anything. Marc and I were raised that way, and we turned out fine.”

There are so many ways to parent your children. You can be overly strict. You can set rules for everything from food to screen time, as she says. Or you can be a bit more casual and know that things are going to work out, which seems to be Busy's philosophy. Of course, that means that you still love your children and are there for them. We can certainly tell that she's an amazing mom.

19 There Is No One Way To Mom

Busy says there is no one way to be a mom and there is no perfect mom.

She told Parents.com, "There is not one prescription that makes the perfect mom. I think we can dispel that myth. You have to do what is right for you and what is right for your family."

Busy totally keeps it real as a mom, and we couldn't possibly love that more. It's so nice to hear a famous person talk about how there's no such thing as perfection and that every mom has to do what they feel in their gut is good for their family. If we can't be mom friends with Busy and hang out with her and our kids can't have play dates, we can at least take her awesome advice.

18 Making Her Husband Participate More

We might not know this, but Busy had some problems with her husband after having her first child. According to She Knows, she said that he didn't try to be a dad:

"I was parenting by myself. When I told him I wanted to have a second child, he said, ‘Fine, but it’s all on you.’ That was so [hard to hear].”

That's definitely tough. It's refreshing, though, that Busy has been so honest about her marriage despite the fact that she's a celebrity. She has said that they went to counseling and "he’s incredibly participatory now in a way I don’t think he could’ve imagined before. We’re a work in progress but trying our best, and that’s the most you can do.”

17 No Pressure To Do It All

ScaryMommy wrote about a hilarious story that Busy shared, which is another reason why we love her, and it brings up another good point about the way that she raises her daughters.

Busy tweeted that she was close to signing up to be a room parent for one of her daughters but realized that she couldn't do it. She tweeted, "I had a moment where I was like, 'OF COURSE I CAN DO EVERYTHING!!!" Then I remembered I can't and THAT'S OK."

Could we love this more? No way. This is so great to hear, and it's a smart reminder that overscheduling yourself is only going to exhaust you.

16 Teaching The Value Of Hard Work

Having a strong work ethic is a truly awesome thing. We all want to have this ourselves, and once we become moms, we want our kids to have it too. We hope that we can inspire them to be the best people that they can be and to find their passion in life. It's every parents' hope for their children that they not only work hard but enjoy it.

Busy wants her kids to learn the value of hard work, and that's another reason that her parenting philosophy is so totally inspiring.

ABC News quoted Busy, "I really try to encourage them to work hard and that hard work is rewarded."

15 Not On Board With This Particular Culture

Busy has talked about the culture of thinking that you have to drink a lot as a mom and has said that she doesn't like that moms offer her drinks a lot.

She Knows quoted the celebrity mama as saying, “You go to a preschool birthday party at 10 a.m., and it’s like, ‘Does anyone want a [...] cooler?’ Um, no, girlfriend. I want to make sure my daughter doesn’t fall off this play structure. It’s such a weird thing!”

We love this and think that it's good to hear this message. It's definitely a good idea to be cautious about this and make sure that you're focusing on what's important (your children).

14 What's In A Name?

Busy let her first kid help name her second daughter. Isn't that so cool? We know that parents can struggle to pick out a baby name, but we don't often hear that a sibling will be in on the discussion.

Romper says that Busy wrote on her social media, "Oh hi. 7/2/13 8:03am Baby Cricks. She had no name for almost a week. I called her the baby. Finally, cedars called me and said we HAD to name her or it would be a pain for us and so I picked Cricket, which was what Marc and Birdie had been pushing for. I had thought her name was going to be Ginger but then she was born and that seemed utterly ridiculous for her. I maintain she could have been a Dottie. But I’m still glad she’s our Cricket. She’s clearly Cricket. Duh."

We love the name Cricket and think that it's so fun and creative.

13 A Cynical Daughter? Or Realistic?

It's awesome when moms encourage their children to have a big imagination and believe in things like fairies. Busy has a funny story about sending her daughter to a fairy camp (yes, that's a thing and, yes, it sounds incredible).

According to News Locker, she said that her daughter, Cricket, is pretty practical about the whole thing: "The kids go on hikes in Griffith Park and search for fairies and they find fairy houses and all that stuff and Birdie loves it. I pick up Cricket after the first day and I am like, ‘Did you love fairy camp, Cricket? Did you see so many fairies?’ And she goes, ‘No mom, there are no fairies out there. It’s just woods. Fairies aren’t real.’ I was like, wait, what? What do I have to do to make you believe in fairies?”

12 Forgetful Mom

According to Parents.com, Busy has also been really honest about the things that have to do with her kids that she forgets about. She said,

"I forget stuff for the kids' schools a lot. I miss the emails and the memos. A lot of times I am the mom that shows up the day after with the 10 cans for the can drive."

Every mom wants to say that they never forget anything... and every mom can admit that sometimes these things just happen. It's not possible to be perfect and it's not a good idea to even try to be. It's awesome that Busy shares the kind of mom that she is, and we applaud her for that.

11 Family Fun

Family vacations are definitely a luxury. Not everyone can afford them and many families can take one small vacation each summer that is fairly close to home.

Of course, we know that celebrities have more money than the average person and that their vacations look much different. Even though Busy is a celebrity, it seems like she keeps family vacations really fun, and we love that.

She and her family just went to Disney. As we can see from pictures like this one, it looked like a really great time. It's a kid's dream to go there for sure and any parent would be happy to take their kid there to have that magical experience.

10 No Perfect Lunches Here

We've all heard of the perfect Pinterest mom and it's tough to see these images because it makes moms feel like perfection is the only thing to strive for.

As every mom knows, that's really difficult, and most of the time (if not all of the time), it's not something that can even be achieved.

Busy has some smart thoughts about this kind of mom and she has a very real approach.

Parents quoted Busy as saying, "Hopefully, there is a little bit of a trend toward being realistic about those things. If I am ever able to make my child's lunch look like I should photograph it, I will photograph it—for sure—but that has not happened yet."

We can breathe easy if our kids' lunches don't look super perfect.

9 Leading By Example And Making Healthy Choices

Many moms would agree that they want their kids to eat a balanced combination of foods. Sometimes that means chicken fingers and fries for dinner (or the popular kid fave, frozen fish sticks) and other times that means a healthy dinner that includes vegetables (that you hope your kids will eat, that is).

According to She Knows, Busy has a balanced approach to food and that is truly awesome. She has said, “I want to lead by example... Now, I just try to make healthy, balanced choices and don’t call any food ‘bad'. My girls see me exercise, but they also see me eat nachos. I think both are important."

8 Two True Things

Moms love hearing what celebrity mamas have to say about raising kids. It's especially fascinating to hear their philosophy, and if we can relate to it, all the better. According to My Domaine, Busy has said about being a mom,

"It's all so much harder than you thought it was going to be, and it's so much better than you think it's going to be."

These are two very true things about motherhood. It's cool to hear Busy say them, and it's just further proof that the funny celebrity mom has so many smart things to say about raising kids (and about other things too, of course -- we're big Busy fans here).

7 Winging It With Meal Times

Feeding kids can be stressful and finding the time to make dinner and lunches is just as tiring as wondering what foods kids will eat. We might assume that celebrities mamas have it all together in the food department, but Busy doesn't always have a perfectly stocked fridge and scrambles to get groceries sometimes.

Romper quoted her as saying, "I will be using Instacart when I get home to order milk and cheese. This morning when I was trying to get my kids out the door to summer camp, I was like, 'Oh, there's nothing to feed them except a bagel that is two weeks old.' But that's how it is when you're living your life and working, you know?"

6 Not Having It All

Do we think that a mom can have it all: a perfect marriage, a perfect family life, the best job? It's something that many people think about on a regular basis, and it's a popular subject of conversation among many moms.

Busy has something to say on this topic: she doesn't think that you can have it all. That's definitely a cool POV to hear and is honestly a relief.

AOL quoted her as saying, "Like you can have all of it a little bit at a time, but you can’t just have all of it all of the time. I have a ton of help -- I've hired help. No one is an island and if they are, I'd like to meet them."

5 Christmas Rituals

Christmas is a magical time of year, especially for children. What does Busy do during the holiday season with her kids?

She makes sure that her girls have Christmas rituals. She makes cookies and also a candy, sea foam, that her own grandma made, which is really sweet and awesome to hear.

According to My Domaine, Busy said, "We do a lot of baking around Christmastime. We always do a sugar cookie so that the kids can decorate, and, honestly, I use Martha Stewart's recipe for sugar cookies. They're the best."

If we haven't gotten baking yet this Christmas season, Busy can inspire us to start.

4 A Core Group Of Friends Is Key

Everyone needs advice, and every mom needs advice, too. From potty training to raising girls (and raising teenage girls), there are so many questions that moms have and so many things that they want to know about.

Does Busy ask for advice? She told Martha Stewart that she asks the women in her life advice about having daughters and all kinds of mom topics. She told the publication, "I have some really close girlfriends. I have a tendency to make friends and then keep them forever. I always go to my core group of girlfriends -- we all have children at this point. I ask my mom about some stuff, because she raised two difficult girls."

3 Tiny Artists

Many moms encourage their kids to work on art projects and get creative. It's a wonderful outlet for children since they can let their imaginations run super wild and get into the groove. It's also a nice thing for moms and kids to do together, and who knows? You could have a budding artist in the family and this could help your kid discover their true passion in life.

According to My Domaine, Busy gets her daughters art supplies along with Play-Doh. It's comforting to hear that even a celebrity encourages an artistic hobby in her children. Art is always a good idea and it sounds like Busy agrees.

2 Finding Other Moms

Busy says that it's good to have a "community" and make friends with moms. Romper quoted the funny celebrity mama as saying,

"And for me, when Birdie was born, which was a long time ago, I did some baby yoga, some baby classes ... and that helped me make some mom friends and some community that way."

She added, "Once your kids get into school, you're going to meet other kids and other moms, and that's going to get a lot easier."

This is so true, right? Moms can all agree that finding fellow mom friends can be such a positive experience. It's so good for your mental and emotional health, and it just feels good to know that you have a community around you.

1 Keep Calm And Mom On

Staying calm is always a great idea in any situation, but it's especially important when you're a mom. Even when your kids are acting hyper or upset, you know that you want to talk to them in a calm tone and adopt a peaceful attitude.

As Busy told Martha Stewart, "I try to keep my cool with my children. It’s really hard. I share a lot with my friends and my family and try to get other people’s perspectives.

Everybody’s been through something that you’re going through, right? I don’t believe that it’s a one-size-fits-all thing with parenting."

We love the ways that Busy is raising her girls, and we think that she's an incredibly inspiring celebrity mama.
