Good news for fans of Star Wars and The Mandalorian — Build-A-Bear, which sells customized stuffed animals, will soon debut a plush Baby Yoda. Also known as The Child, Baby Yoda, part of the Star Wars Disney+ original television series The Mandalorian ensemble, belongs to the same alien species as Yoda. The character, the show's breakout star, has been embraced by fans of the series, who can’t seem to get enough of the character.

Fans of Baby Yoda have been clamoring for Mandalorian merchandise since the show debuted, yet the highly anticipated Funko Baby Yoda action figure, which was a best-seller on Amazon in early December, won’t ship until May. Now Build-A-Bear is beating Funko to the punch and will release the Baby Yoda stuffed toy shortly. According to Build-A-Bear CEO Sharon Price John, the company has secured a licensing deal, which will allow them to produce Baby Yoda plush dolls in the next couple of months.

Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc., which is headquartered in Overland, Missouri, was founded in 1997. The company provides customers with an interactive process that allows them to assemble and personalize a stuffed animal at their stores. The company’s slogan is "The Most Fun You'll Ever Make."

John says the idea for a Baby Yoda plush toy began with the very first episode of The Mandalorian. Build-A-Bear immediately reached out to Lucasfilm, which owns the rights to the character’s likeness, and secured a licensing deal to produce the doll.

Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc., whose shares skyrocketed 15% this week after the company increased its 2019 full-year forecast, has reported stronger-than-projected holiday sales. The company now anticipates total revenue for fiscal 2019 to be between $334 million and $338 million, giving it more than enough leverage when it comes to striking licensing deals like the one with Lucasfilm.

Build-A-Bear, which has traditionally targeted children, has seen a growing interest from older buyers. John says that online sales have been spurred by adults searching for products from Disney, Lucasfilm and Warner Bros. In addition to Build-A-Bear's Baby Yoda, Disney will release an official Baby Yoda plush on March 1. The doll is currently available for pre-order for $24.99.
