It’s Take Two for Build-A-Bear stores nationwide and their fans. The popular teddy bear and stuffed animal retailer is offering parents and their children another incentive to return to their stores: free bears. To celebrate National Teddy Bear Day this week, Build-A-Bear are giving away free bears.

Build-A-Bear bonus club members will be able to get their hands on a free bear when they get a free reserved ticket and spend at least $15 in the store. But the company is doing things a little different this time around, to avoid all of the chaos and confusion that surrounded the “pay your age” promotion in July. In a new procedure, Bonus Club members got an invitation on Sept. 3 to sign up to get a reserved ticket to get the free toy at the event.

For those parents who prefer not to wait in line to have your bear stuffed, you can purchase the bear unstuffed and return at a later time to enjoy the in-store experience. To ensure that you receive your bear though, Build-A-Bear is recommending that you arrive two hours before the store closes on your reserved day.

Back in July, the company’s CEO apologized for their failed “pay your age” sale. Sharon Price said that the company underestimated the overwhelming amount of families who showed up to their stores to partake in their summer promotion.

"There was no way we could have anticipated these kind of crowds," she said told The Today Show in an interview, adding, "We're doing the best we can to make it right for people."

In addition to the disastorous “pay your age” promotion, Build-A-Bear also introduced a new promotion dubbed 'Count Your Candles,' a deal that allows loyalty program members to only pay their age when building stuffed animals at Build-A-Bear during their birthday month.

About one million people signed up for Build-A-Bear's loyalty program in recent months due to the promotions, which many economic analysts say is a sizeable addition to the previous number of 5 million. Build-A-Bear Workshop is the largest chain that allows customers to go through an interactive process in which the stuffed animal of their choice is assembled and tailored to their own preferences during their visit to the store.
