Princess of Pop Britney Spears has been blessing her fans with an endless string of content on her Instagram page during this time of quarantine. From sharing her favorite workouts to posing in her favorite outfits and even casually dropping the fact that she burned down her home gym, Spears has been interacting with her fans quite regularly. The singer recently penned an homage to her hairstyle, specifically her bangs, in a recent post that also revealed a lot about her insecurities as a child.

The post features a pretty selfie of the mother of two outside of her home with her hair up in a messy ponytail and her long bangs swept across her forehead. Wearing a short, puff sleeve shirt, her signature choker around her neck, and black eyeliner, the singer proceeds to explain how much she prefers to have bangs but her insecurities as a child forced her to grow them out. "I know I need bangs," Spears wrote, noting how she feels them make her look younger. She then recalled that she stopped wearing bangs when she was in the third grade and that "it was such a big deal to expose my forehead" because "only pretty people in the south could do that and I never felt pretty enough to pull it off."

It may be shocking that one of the most famous women in the world felt so self-conscious when she was younger but Spears goes on to recount how a meeting with a modeling agency only further made her feel bad about herself.  "I had bad teeth and felt like an ugly duckling. I met with a modeling agency but I wasn’t pretty enough so I went home and said, "maybe I can be like the older girls and show my forehead" !!!! I did and it looked sooooo bad but I thought I was gorgeous," she wrote. She went on to write that although she didn't like herself without bangs she continued to wear her hair like "because I thought it made me cool .... and I’ve pretty much had it like that ever since !!!!  People choose different ways to protect themselves …. when I pull my bangs in front of my head I feel like I’m protected ... almost like I’m in 3rd grade again."

The pop superstar has a lot to celebrate despite being in quarantine. In addition to the 20th anniversary of her pop hit album Oops!...I Did It Again, Rolling Stone Magazine just named Spears' hit single "...Baby One More Time" the greatest debut single of all time in their recent ranking of 100 singles.

It may be hard to believe but Spears' debut single was released in 1999 when the singer was just 16 years old, and in the iconic video featuring Spears in her schoolgirl outfit, she was also wearing bangs. The singer has created so many iconic looks over the years and no matter how she wears her hair she looks amazing. As long as she's feeling beautiful and confident that's all that matters.
