Every parent wants the best for their child, but that usually ends when their child is grown and on their own. They usually let them go and trust that they have given them the tools they need to succeed in life. However, this is not a rule and it does not work for everyone, some still require help from their parents when it comes to making life decisions. This is especially true for those who have some form of illness that requires assistance.

This explains what Britney Spears has been going through with her father. Her father, Jamie, has been her conservator for years now. According to Fox Business, a conservator is a guardian of sorts, and they are appointed to look after the financial matters and daily life of another person. This is due to mental incompetence or other issues. This allows Jamie to have control over much of Britney’s life, including whether or not she can drive a car or even get married

Jamie Spears has been in control of his daughter’s finances and life since she had her very public breakdown in 2007. While it was meant at the time as a way to help his daughter, it has never ended completely, and Britney is starting to fight back, according to Newsweek. Britney is now trying to fight back in court and regain control of her life. Britney has gone as far as to say that she will not perform as long as her father is her conservator, and she is afraid of him and his intentions.

The request to have Jamie removed is being heard today in court in Los Angeles, and Britney is saying that her father is not willing to share control over her money, which is in the $60 million range (thanks to him, he claims). The #FreeBritney movement has been fighting for Britney to have the power to spend the money she earns the way she wants it.

However, Britney is not seeking a complete free situation. She seems to be willing to have a conservator, but she doesn’t want it to be her father anymore. She wants to nominate a person or company to look after her estate, specifically Bessemer Trust.

It seems to make sense what Britney wants because this may not be a situation that family should be involved with. It can cause friction and tension between members of the family, and it seems like Britney just wants a third-party who is not biased or related to her in any way. Her family is worried that she is still vulnerable to the influence of those around her. It will be interesting to see how this plays out for the singer.
