The world has been watching Britney Spears very closely, and that is probably because those that are moms today grew up with her. They grew up listening to her music, watching her interviews and watching her fall. The very public breakdown Britney had in 2007 forced a conservatorship onto her and it was her father, Jamie Spears. This conservatorship has been in place since then, but Britney is now pushing for her father to be removed.

According to BBC News, Britney has lost her court bid to remove the control her father has over her estate. Britney was seeking the removal of Jamie and the introduction of another company to overtake her estate and life.

Jamie’s lawyer stated that he had always acted in the best interest of his daughter and he needed to continue on as her conservator for the sake of her mental health. During the hearing, Britney’s lawyer said that her and her father have no “viable working relationship” and she also said that the pair have not spoken in a long time.

The judge has said that she would consider a change in the future when it comes to Jamie’s dismissal from the role or a complete removal of the order. This is distressing for Britney, according to Variety, Britney is “afraid” of her father and has now refused to perform ever again as long as her father is the conservator on her estate.

The only positive thing that seems to come out of this is that Bessemer Trust, the company Britney wanted as her conservator, has been named a co-conservator.
