Sometimes we all need a break from our lives. Mental health is so important, and yet for so many of us, it is often put on the back burner. When we spend all of our time caring for others, it is easy to forget that we have to make ourselves a priority too. Singer Britney Spears is checking herself into a wellness facility for some much needed self preservation. Spears's mental health issues have been widely documented over the years (no one will ever forget 2007.) And after her father's physical health declined, she is devoting her time to caring for him.

As she was gearing up for her final Las Vegas residency with the show Domination, which was set to launch this past February, Britney Spears abruptly announced the entire residency was canceled. Her dad, Jamie Spears was gravely ill, and she was taking time off to care for him. For those who may not know, Jamie Spears has been acting as conservator of Britney's estate (along with a lawyer) since 2008. He has been by her side as she built herself back up, and in his time of need, she couldn't imagine doing anything but taking care of him.

But, as any adult who's had to care for a sick parent knows, it's taxing. Thankfully, money isn't much of an issue for Britney Spears, but still. Being there to give him care is taking a lot out of her. So, she has chosen to take some time and focus on making sure that she's operating at her best to be able to care for not only her dad, but her two sons.

A source tells PEOPLE, “Britney just needed to focus on herself," and “Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her," and that's why she's checked herself into the facility.

She recently posted a graphic on Instagram that reads, "Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit." Obviously, she is beginning to realize that it's hard to pour from an empty cup and needs to have grace with herself. So often, we talk about self-care as a trend of buzzword, and don't think about how absolutely crucial it is to our well being.

We all need to take time for a little "me time." :) Spears captioned the post. Hopefully, she gets the rest and treatment she deserves.
