The world has been a little difficult to explain to children. The year started off with fires rampaging through Australia, then we were introduced to COVID-19, and now the world is surrounded by protests and riots. Life has been chaotic, and it can be difficult to explain these things to children. Children with autism may struggle a bit more to understand the world around them, and parents may be at a loss of what to do, what to say and how to say it in a way that they will understand and accept.

Autism Little Learners has tried to make this a lot easier for parents, with the help of a new online tool in the form of a book. The book was written by Tara, who is a speech/language pathologist. She has been specializing in Autism for 20 years. She has worked with parents all over the world on how to work with children who have Autism.

The website hosts multiple books to read with children who have Autism. The topics range but all cover things that may be a bit difficult for children to understand. One of the newest books explains how riding a school bus may look a little different. School’s are likely opening back up in the fall, but there will be changes. Change is hard for a child who struggles, and this book is hoping to help explain why the changes are there and what they are.

The book goes over what the changes may look like, and Tara has stated that she may add pages or make revisions when the public receives more information on what the school experience will actually look like. She also has other books available on COVID-19 topics, like a story for a child who may need to be tested for it. It is aimed at helping reduce the anxiety a child may feel before getting the test done.

The best part is that all of these stories are available on the website, and they are absolutely free. Parents can look through them online with their children, or they can print them out. All of the resources available are a great tool for any parent, and it is something they can use to help prepare their child for the changes they may be about to experience.
