For many families, visiting Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, might not be ideal, and especially during the heat and humidity of the summer months. But this might actually be the best time to visit, despite the rising number of visitors to Central Florida.

According to Cinema Blend, many guests at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Epcot found the parks to be much quieter than usual, thanks to the huge number of people who visited nearby Hollywood Studios for the opening of Toy Story Land instead.

Many Disney guests took to social media to post photos of many rides throughout the Magic Kingdom and their incredibly short wait time in minutes. For example, Peter Pan’s Flight, which traditionally has a wait time of 90 minutes or more, was just a 10-minute wait during Toy Story Land’s opening weekend.

Pirates of the Caribbean was no more than a 10-minute wait as well. In addition, the It’s A Small World had half-empty boats off the dock and no wait line, which was previously unheard of. In other words, the Magic Kingdom was as empty as it could get, which is quite unusual for the summer’s peak months.

In comparison, Hollywood Studios saw a massive amount of people waiting in line to try out the Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster and the Alien Swirling Saucers for the very first time. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the park’s marquee attraction – Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster – saw wait lines of up to 300 minutes. There was also a 90 to 120 minute wait for the nearby Alien Swirling Saucers. For Disney fans, this is very reminiscent to the opening of Animal Kingdom’s Avatar Flight of Passage and Pandora Land opening back in 2017.

Many fans waited up to three hours in the Central Florida heat. More than 5 million people have ridden Flight of Passage since it opened in May of 2017. The company says it’s the Orlando resort’s top-rated ride from guest surveys.

Many insiders say that the opening of Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios is just a mere preview of what’s to come when Star Wars Galaxy Edge will open in 2019. Experts predict that the lines and wait line will be even busier.
