It looks like we are going to be seeing Barbie on the big screen soon. Barbie is one of those classic toys that has been enjoyed by girls and boys of all ages. It is a timeless toy that many parents remember playing with when they were younger. She has moved on to become more inclusive, representing people from all over the world and the many career choices. She has even been turned into merchandise and TV shows and mini-movies. These movies are classics, but they are all cartoons and fans may have been waiting for a live-action Barbie to hit the big screens.

According to Scary Mommy and Elle, Barbie is making her debut on the big screen in a live-action film, and there are some details to know right now. The film will be directed by Greta Gerwig, who is known for films like Lady Bird and Little Women.

We even know some cast information, and it looks like the iconic character is going to be played by Margot Robbie. That’s right, Harley Quinn is trading in her baseball bat, for some hot pink high heels and blonde hair. When it comes to her beau, Ken will be played by none other than Ryan Gosling.

Other notable performances will be by Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Hari Ne, and Alexandra Shipp. The movie is currently being filmed in the UK, and it is set to hit theaters on July 21st, 2023. This seems like a lifetime away, but time has a way of moving fast, so you may want to check off your calendars.

When Greta was asked about the film, she said that people are definitely going to think she is “insane,” but she thinks that is a good thing. Warner Brothers released an image of a still from the film which shows Margot in a convertible (pink, of course) with blue accessories.

Greta also said that she grew up with Barbies as a little girl, and she would always cut their hair, and she went on tours of Barbie factories to make sure she really became a part of the Barbie culture. She wanted to make sure that she became a “fanatic” before taking on this job. Even Margot Robbie explained how she loved to play with the toys when she was a little girl and the whole experience was nostalgic for her.
