While there are a lot of males who feel that less hair might equal less confidence, that’s not always the case. There’s a new study that proves that bald men are indeed more confident, intelligent and dominant than their full set of hair counterparts.

According to Psychology Today, "Physically attractive people are judged to be more competent, and that they receive more favorable treatment by juries, are perceived as less deceptive, and are regarded as being more successful in general."

And a survey of men and women points to this being true.

In a study published in Social Psychological and Personality Science, Dr. Frank Muscarella at Barry University in Florida revealed that bald men are seen differently than men with hair, in a very positive way.

Dr. Muscarella and his team of researchers has both men and women participants look at pictures of men. There was a variety of men with hair and without hair and they were asked to rate them. According to the study write up, participants were asked to rate these pictures on several factors including, "physical attractiveness, aggressiveness, appeasement, and social maturity, which included honesty, intelligence, and social status."

Those who took part in the survey saw bald men to be more dominant, honest, and intelligent. Bald men are also seen as a non-threatening form of social dominance. “There is a large body of literature that shows that although women like physically attractive men, they are also very attracted to signs of high social dominance," Muscarella told The Daily Mail.

Dr. Muscarella added, “Consequently, it could now be explained how the characteristic was passed on. My speculation is that as humans evolved and the group became increasingly important for survival, males played a more integral role in the family group, and it may have been adaptive to evolve a morphological sign of this dominance-related role and one that made the adult males appear less threatening and more approachable to facilitate interactions with them."
