Now that Baby Sussex is finally here, everyone can’t help but wonder what his name will be and of course, who he looks like. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first royal baby to the world during the early hours of Monday morning at Frogmore Cottage near Windsor Castle. After the birth of their baby, Prince Harry updated the media and said that both mother and child are doing wonderful.
With the baby resting with his royal mother and father at home, there’s new speculation as to who the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will or will not pick to be their baby’s godparents. According to PEOPLE, some of the royal couple’s famous friends might even make the royal cut.

We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz. The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.
Current frontrunners for the title of godfather and godmother include Harry’s best friend Charlie Van Straubenzee and Meghan’s close friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney. There’s also a possibility that some of the couple’s celebrity friends like George and Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, and even David Beckham might be on the top of their list for possible godparents to Baby Sussex.
There’s a very small chance that Harry’s brother, Prince William, and his wife Kate Middleton are going to be Baby Sussex’s godparents. That’s not because of the reported feud between the Cambridges and the Sussexes. Instead, it’s because the royal family usually doesn’t pick very close family members to be godparents, seeing how they are going to be in the children’s lives anyway. That’s one of the reasons why Prince Harry was not chosen to be a godparent to William and Kate’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Their Royal Highnesses thank you for your support and kindness during this exceptionally joyful time in their lives as they welcome their baby boy.
In addition to the Clooneys, Serena Williams, and David Beckham, some people are even putting their bets on Elton John being the child’s godfather and Oprah Winfrey serving as godmother. Other possibilities include Prince Harry’s cousins Zara Tindall or Princess Eugenie.
“Harry & Meghan have a load of options for the godparents, and I have a sneaky feeling that we could see a celeb or two get the call,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
So far Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not made any comments about who they will choose to be their baby’s godparents. However, Harry did hint that the world will get to see Baby Sussex for the very first time in a possible photo call as early as Wednesday, May 8th.
