Being pregnant in the summer is brutal. It's hot, you're feeling sticky and bloated. Not enough water and popsicles in the world make it better. But, having a summer baby has many benefits. Planning birthday parties will be a breeze because the weather will always be nice. There are other advantages to having an August baby, read on to find out!

They tend to be bigger

Summer born babies usually have a higher birth weight than kids born in any other season. That's not always a benefit for mom during pregnancy, but it has many benefits to the baby throughout their lives. And the same study that found the link between summer birth and higher birth weight also found that summer babies tend to taller adults. According to the research, there's a long term link between the amount of vitamin D exposure moms get during pregnancy and their big babies.

They tend to be leaders

People born in August tend to end up in leadership positions later in life. Dr. Athena Perrakis, astrologist and CEO of crystal company Sage Goddess tells Redbook that Leos are confident, physically and mentally strong and strong willed. Virgos are detail oriented, organized and reliable. “They [people born in August] make naturally strong leaders, because of their charisma and because of their confidence," she says. Former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are both August babies. August babies also make good teachers because of their natural authority.

They're less likely to develop bipolar disorder

August babies have lower rates of bipolar disorder, according to a 2012 study. Researchers don't exactly know why this is, but it likely has to do with the levels of vitamin D the mother gets during pregnancy.

They love the spotlight

August babies, especially Leos, tend to gravitate towards creative endeavors due to lack of constraint. “You also find a lot of Leos in entertainment, a lot of actors, a lot of people in all parts of the entertainment industry because they are charismatic,” Perrakis says. And it's true. Actresses Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick and singer Demi Lovato are all August babies.

They're more positive

Spring and summer babies tend to be more positive. That's because hyperhythmic temperament, the tendency to have a positive, upbeat attitude, is linked to being born during this time of year. This is likely why people born between March and August see themselves as lucky, as found by a 2005 study.
