Andrew Glennon Claims Amber Portwood Can't Provide 'Safe' Home For Son After Arrest

Things for Amber Portwood may be getting worse. After an arrest at the beginning of July, she is now likely to be going through a custody battle. Her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, with whom she shares 14-month-old son James is seeking custody of the baby. Portwood's arrest was a result of a domestic assault on Glennon.

Andrew Glennon currently has custody of James following Portwood's arrest. He is now seeking primary custody with Portwood having supervised visits, and child support. Radar Online has obtained the court documents detailing Glennon's filing. He believes Amber Portwood is “currently unable to provide a safe, stable and secure environment” for their son.

“Father believes that it is not currently in James’ best interests for Mother to have unsupervised parenting time,” the documents also state.

One of Glennon's main reasons for seeking primary custody is Portwood's mental health. She is bipolar and also has borderline personality disorder. The court documents state Glennon's decision to seek primary custody is “due to her frequent refusal and/or failure to take medicines prescribed to treat her mental-health conditions, among other concerns.”

He is also seeking insurance and payment of medical expenses from Portwood.

According to documents, Amber had a machete that she struck through a door. Andrew Glennon was on the other side, holding James. Though it posed a great risk to Glennon, there are no reports that he was hospitalized after the incident.

Portwood was quickly arrested and taken into police custody. And she was released the next day on a $2,000 cash bond. Currently she is allegedly living with her mother Tonya. She and Glennon are not in contact with each other right now. But there are no reports on the status of their relationship. So just because they're not in contact doesn't necessarily mean they're not a couple.

Portwood also chose not to attend the taping of the Teen Mom OG season 8 reunion show recently. A insider tells US Weekly “Amber’s trying to get things together in her life and she wasn’t able to attend.” Currently, MTV is not making any decisions to fire Portwood from the show. She may choose to sit out some episodes to focus on the situation at hand, but only time will tell.
