You, you, you oughta know! Alanis Morissette took to Instagram to announce that she is expecting! In a lovely black and white photograph, Morissette, 44, shows off her adorable baby bump while posed in front of, what else, a microphone.
And, baby makes five! Morissette and her husband, Mario ‘Souleye’ Treadway, are already parents to son, Ever (8) and daughter, Onyx (2). We don’t know about you, but we are already wondering what unique name this new baby will be given.
Along with this exciting announcement, fans of Morissette are awaiting the arrival of another bundle from the “Ironic” singer. We will soon be able to relive our teenage angst when her iconic 1995 album, Jagged Little Pill, hits the theater stage. In collaboration with Diablo Cody, the two women have brought Morissette’s songs to life.
Morissette told Rolling Stone, “to work with Diablo Cody, whose heart is as open as her mind is bright and brave, has taken this record – which has meant so much to me – to a whole other level of depth, meaning and natural activism.”
According to the New York Times, the show will tackle issues like addiction, gender identity, sexual assault, transracial adoption and image-consciousness. With anthems like “You Oughta Know” and “All I Really Want,” we wouldn’t expect anything less.
The microphone and headphones, which Morissette is wearing in the Instagarm announcement, along with the caption, “so much NEWness…” has left us wondering if she has more surprises up her sleeve. Perhaps the photo is also hinting at new music coming soon? We sure hope so!
In 2017, Morissette revealed to PEOPLE that she struggled with "crippling" postpartum depression (PPD) after the birth of her daughter Onyx Solace. “There are days I’m debilitated to the point where I can barely move,” the singer tells PEOPLE. “As a kid, I imagined having children and being with an amazing partner. This is a whole other wrench I didn’t anticipate.”
She also suffered from PPD after her first pregnancy, but she wasn't diagnosed until much later. We're hoping that she has a smoother postpartum period after her third baby. We wish Morissette a healthy pregnancy and look forward to see (and hopefully hear) what’s next!
