People have long been swooning over celebrity dads. I’ve been a loyal fan of the band Hanson since they first made their debut in 1997, and I’ve heard plenty of my fellow fans admit while waiting in line for a concert that the fact that Isaac, Taylor and Zac are now all grown up and married with children of their own has only made them even more good-looking.
Then there’s actors like Arrow star Stephen Amell and Aquaman’s Jason Momoa, who keep their fans squealing with glee each time they post an adorable photo posing with their significant others and their children on social media.
Of course, it’s not fair to leave out the other male celebrities that have to play the most difficult role of all: that of being both a father and a mother to their children. Being a parent sans partner isn’t easy, even for a celebrity that can easily afford a full-time nanny to help them take care of their little ones and who certainly don’t have to worry about how they will afford schooling for their kiddos.
The handsome celebrities listed below have all done a great job of being honest about both the joys and pitfalls of being a solo father.
25 Channing Tatum
Channing Tatum wowed folks with his spectacular dance moves in the hit film 2012 Magic Mike, which The Mirror notes was actually based on his real-life experiences as a male dancer when he was only 18 years old.
People adds that Tatum and his ex-wife Jenna Dewan officially divorced back in October, which was only six months after they announced that they had split up. They also reassured their fans on social media that despite the break-up, they are both planning on being very dedicated parents to their little girl Everly.
24 Chris Pratt
Any devoted Marvel fan or Jurassic Park fan will instantly recognize Chris Pratt’s handsome visage. The hunky actor went from appearing on the television show Parks and Rec to saving the universe in Guardians of the Galaxy and leading a pack of velociraptors against the cunning Indominous Rex in Jurassic World.
Café Mom adds that Pratt is currently on the dating market since he split up with his ex-wife Anna Faris, but he always makes time for his son Jack and constantly posts cute photos of himself hanging out with his little boy.
23 Liam Neeson
Handsome Liam Neeson has an impressive acting reel, although I won’t lie, I swooned over him as Henri Ducard/Ra’s al Ghul in Chris Nolan’s first Batman film Batman Begins and was a bit disappointed when the character was written off at the end.
According to TV Overmind, Neeson is very protective of his two sons Michael and Daniel after he tragically lost his wife Natasha Richardson back in 2009 when a fun vacation at a ski resort took a very sad turn.
22 Idris Elba
I honestly don’t know of anyone that hasn’t swooned over Idris Elba. Whether he is playing the stern yet heroic Marshall Stacker Pentecost, the snarky all-seeing demigod warrior Heimdall in the Thor franchise, or John Luther on BBC’s Luther, Elba has won the hearts of viewers all around the globe.
ET Online adds that Elba has two children—a daughter named Isan and a son named Winston. He’s a great father, as he allowed Isan to accompany him to the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards back in 2016.
21 Josh Duhamel
Josh Duhamel is one of those lucky former models that successfully made the transition from being photographed only to acting on both the small screen (in shows such as the soap opera All My Children) to the big screen (such as the Transformers franchise).
Café Mom adds that folks everywhere swoon over Duhamel because he’s pretty open about how he doesn’t know everything when it comes to parenting and admits he’s doing the best he can for his son Axl Jack, whose mother was his ex-wife Fergie.
20 Ryan Phillipe
When I was a teenager, pretty much all of my friends had a huge crush on Ryan Phillippe after watching him in films such as I Know What You Did Last Summer. Unlike some other stars that were popular with the teen set, he managed to make the successful transition to a serious actor and even wound up producing a television show back in 2016.
Café Mom adds that Phillippe is also not afraid to post cute messages about how much he loves his children Ava and Deacon. Even though he split from their mom Reese Witherspoon, he’s still active in their life and frequently takes the kids to events like sports games.
19 Jamie Foxx
TV Overmind points out that not only does Jamie Foxx have the ability to wow audiences with his fantastic comedic timing, but he’s also a serious actor that impressed views in films such as Django Unchained and has a great voice too.
Foxx doesn’t like to talk much about his personal life because he is the type that wants to keep his private life private, but he’s very proud of his two daughters Corinne (born in 1994) and Annalise (born in 2009)—he just tries to keep them out of the limelight as much as he can.
18 Al Pacino
For the older ladies, Al Pacino is what like Leonardo DiCaprio at the height of his post-Titanic stardom was to my friends and I when we were teenagers—especially after he starred as Michael Corleon in the hit movie The Godfather alongside Marlon Brando. My own mother is in her ‘60s, and she’s still swooning over Pacino!
TV Overmind adds that Pacino has three children: Julie the eldest was born to an acting coach named Jan Tarrant while twins Oliva and Anton were born during the time when he was dating fellow actor Beverly D’Angelo. Even though Pacino is a solo dad, he knows what it’s like to grow up without a father and he makes sure to stay very active in his children’s lives.
My taste in music has always leaned more towards pop, rock, and even Celtic folk metal or Broadway showtunes, so I never really was a fan of Usher because his style just wasn’t my cup of tea. But I have friends that have been crushing on him since the ‘90s and the fact he’s a cool dad parenting on his own has only increased their love for him.
TV Overmind writes that Usher divorced his ex-wife Tameka Foster in 2009 and successfully got sole custody over his two sons Cinco and Navyid. He often posts on social media about how proud he is of his children or shares cute photos for his fans to squeal over.
16 Skeet Ulrich
Cosmopolitan points out that Skeet Ulrich was considered one of the most handsome ‘90s heartthrobs and appeared in classic ‘90s films such as The Craft (my personal favorite, not even going to lie) and Scream. Now he’s got a steady gig as Jughead’s dad on the hit CW television show Riverdale.
The actor is also a proud papa, as he has twin children named Jakob and Naiia. They were born to Ulrich and his former wife Georgina Cates in 2001, although the couple got divorced a few years later in 2005.
15 Colin Farrell
I’ll be honest with you, I started developing heart eyes for hunky Irish actor Colin Farrell after he portrayed legendary adventurer Captain John Smith in Terrence Malick’s 2005 film The New World, which recounts how the Jamestown settlement in Virginia started and Smith’s meeting with the Powhatan tribe—including the famous historical figure Pocahontas.
Farrell isn’t just an actor with a fantastic filmography; he’s also such a charming and supportive father. TV Overmind adds that he has two children named James and Henry; James was actually born with a rare medical condition and has actually spoken several time at an important foundation that supports folks with this issue.
14 Lenny Kravitz
Not only is Lenny Kravitz a phenomenal singer and musician that has won the hearts of people everywhere, but he also won not one, but four “Best Male Vocal Performance” Grammy awards in a row from 1999 to 2002.
Kravitz is also a dedicated father to his daughter Zoe. He eloped with her mother Lisa Bonet back in 1987, although the couple called it quits in 1993. TV Overmind notes that he gained custody of Zoe and was a strict but loving father that had no qualms about asking his daughter to change outfits if he thought what she was wearing was just a wee bit too mature for her youthful age at the time.
13 Orlando Bloom
Let’s be honest here—what Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean fans didn’t walk out of the theaters without a huge crush on Orlando Bloom as the swift elvish prince Legolas Greenleaf or the earnest blacksmith turned pirate Will Turner? I know I did!
Aside from being ridiculously handsome, US Magazine writes that Bloom is also a very good father to his son Flynn and makes sure that his little one gets plenty of time with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr. He also constantly gushes about his child on social media and has admitted he hopes one day Flynn can have a little brother or sister to play with!
12 James Marsden
James Marsden has been in plenty of successful films and televisions shows including the X-Men franchise where he played the superhero Scott Summers (AKA Cyclops), Enchanted and Westworld.
People notes that Marsden is also very vocal about the love he has for his son Jack and his daughter Mary; he adds that their love for him is what helped him regain his equilibrium after he divorced his wife Lisa Linde in 2011 and routinely calls his children “the best part of his life.” Can we all say “awww?”
11 Taye Diggs
I won’t lie, I’m a huge fan of the Broadway musical Rent and even Chris Columbus’s film adaption. I always thought it was cute that Taye Diggs was in a relationship with his Rent co-star Idina Menzel and was pretty sad when I found out that they had split up.
Essence points out that being a solo dad suits Diggs and he’s constantly posting super cute photos on his social media accounts that show the actor in candid moments with his son Walker.
10 Jude Law
Jude Law originally won the hearts of viewers everywhere in the 1999 flick The Talented Mr. Ripley and the prolific actor from across the pond has proven that he can star in fantasy movies (he stars as Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts franchise), comedy (his role as Dr. Watson in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes films) and even superhero movies, as he is slated to appear as Mar-vell in the upcoming film Captain Marvel.
BabyGaga notes that even though Law has five children with three different women, he makes sure that he’s an active presence in their lives and is proud of his older children’s accomplishments—such as his son Raff becoming a model.
Sean Combs AKA P.Diddy or now just “Diddy” is not only a man of many names, but he is also a man of many talents too. He’s a successful rapper, songwriter, and a fashion designer too—can’t get better than that!
After his ex Kim Porter passed, Diddy has risen to the occasion and is learning to navigate life as a father on his own. People writes that he told his fans via social media that he has a new appreciation for his fellow parents going it alone and was candid about how it can sometimes be difficult to be both a father and a mother to his children.
8 Christiano Ronaldo
The handsome soccer star Christiano Ronaldo has always been a bit of a man of mystery. TV Overmind points out that back in 2011, he revealed to the press that he had a son named Christiano Jr., although no one has ever discovered who the mother of the little one is.
Aside from his little namesake, Christiano has three other children that were born a few years later. He often posts adorable photos where he can be seen posing with all four of his kiddos on social media for his fans to swoon over.
7 Louis Tomlinson
For many young women today, One Direction was the hottest boy band. I never got into their music, but seeing the throngs of delighted fans brought back some nostalgic memories of my own teenybopper days following Hanson and the Backstreet Boys.
In 2016, Romper writes that One Direction member Louis Tomlinson and his ex-girlfriend Briana Jungwirth welcomed a newborn baby boy named Freddie. Despite the contentious custody battle, Louis insisted that he ready to dedicate his time to being a committed father to his little one.
Tyrese Gibson is seriously successful—not only does he have fantastic musical accomplishments and nominations for several Grammy Awards, but he’s also a wonderful actor—he’s been in some of the Fast & Furious films and The Transformers franchise too.
Essence adds that Tyrese is also dedicated to his daughter Shayla. Not only has he taken to social media to show off cute photos of himself playing dress up with his beloved little girl, but he also bought her an island. That’s one lucky little girl!
5 Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt has long been considered a heartthrob for movie audiences all around the world. Heck, he was one of the better parts of that 2004 film Troy because he actually made the one-note character of Achilles well-rounded and pretty sympathetic, so he’s got my respect for that alone.
Pitt also made waves when he split with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie and E!Online adds that he’s been open about how the divorce has affected his life as a father. He loves spending time with his children, but admits that his work as an actor means that he doesn’t get a chance to spend as much time as he wants to with them and is working to remedy that.
4 Vin Diesel
Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel can look intimidating (I personally wouldn’t want to get on his bad side, if I’m being honest) but he’s got a soft side that he often shows off on social media when he posts photos with three children.
People writes that Diesel has often said in the past that “fatherhood was the craziest stunt he’s ever done” but he clearly dotes on his children and loves showing them off on social media. He even named one of his daughters for his late friend Paul Walker, which is a really sweet tribute.
3 Ben Affleck
For a long time, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice star Ben Affleck and his ex-wife Jennifer Garner were considered one of the Hollywood couples that were going to stay together forever, but sadly that prediction did not come to pass.
People adds that Ben had a difficult relationship with his father and that’s why even though he split up with Garner, he is determined to turn his life around and be the good father for his children that he never had when he was growing up as a young boy.
2 Tom Cruise
Despite the fact that Universal’s attempts at reviving The Mummy franchise with Tom Cruise as the lead didn’t work as well as the studio had hoped, he’s still winning the hearts of viewers all around the world in with the Mission: Impossible films.
TV Overmind that aside from being a pretty darn good actor, Cruise is also a dedicated father. He gained custody of his two adopted children Isabella and Connor when he and ex-wife Nicole Kidman got divorced and is still a devoted presence in the life of his daughter Suri with his second ex-wife Katie Holmes.
1 Johnny Depp
Viewers have been swooning over Johnny Depp for years and even though some of his roles have been a bit out there, he’s still known for being an adorable yet totally quirky actor.
TV Overmind writes that Depp is also not shy about talking to the press about how much he loves his children that he had with his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Paradis. He is so fond of his children Lily-Rose and Jack that when the former was diagnosed with an E.coli infection, he went to the hospital that treated her in full Jack Sparrow costume and read to some of the children that were there for hours as a way to say thank you for helping his beloved little girl get better ASAP.
