Celebrities appear to live on a totally different planet from the rest of us. Though a lot of them try to live normal lives and stay off the radar, it's kind of hard to do that when all eyes are always on them. It used to be that the children of celebrities enjoyed slightly more privacy than they do now. Thanks to social media, the internet, and the constant demand for news, celeb kids just don't get a break anymore.

With their red carpet appearances, privileged lifestyle, and TV appearances, celebrities really do surround themselves with a different crowd. This means they'll eat different things, take vacations in ways that are totally different from the rest of us, and they may even use different logic when it comes to naming their children.

Some celebrities chose their children's names because of a comic book character they might like. Others chose to name their children after colors or even royal titles.

For some reason, bears seem to be popular with celebrities. Other celebrities seem to have made up the name of their child, or they chose something that sounds cool to them. Here are some celebrity baby names with no known origin.

25 Kal-El

Sure, if you love Superman you know that his Kryptonian name is Kal-El. Kal is his first name, and El refers to the house of El. In fact, the popular 'S' on his suit is the crest of the house of El in Krypton.

Nic Cage and Alice Kim named their child, Kal-El after Superman. If you think about it, the name has become so ingrained in our pop culture lexicon that this doesn't seem weird. Some sources say the name sounds almost like the Hebrew words for "voice of God."

At least it's cool.

24 Pilot Inspektor

Jason Lee is best known for his work with Kevin Smith in beloved films such as Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma. He's also the voice of Syndrome in The Incredibles.

Having him as a dad must be cool, right? Lee must have an encyclopedic knowledge of comics and he seems totally laid-back. Then again, he did name his kid Pilot Inspektor.

Turns out the name is inspired by a song called "He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot," by an indie band called Grandaddy. He and his wife were such big fans of the song that they came up with this name.

23 Banks Violet Bair

Hillary Duff was so iconic in the 2000s that she's still in the hearts of her fans. She could totally work on a full comeback if she wanted to but instead chooses to stay away from the spotlight.

She gave birth to her second child this October and announced a very unique name: Banks Violet Bair. A cursory Google search shows that Bair is an Urdu word that translates into jujube. This plant was once taken as cough medicine.

22 Racer

Known for films such as Spy Kids, director and musician Robert Rodriguez is a creative force to be reckoned with. It follows that he would use his creativity to give his kids cool names.

After all, when you've worked with the likes of Quentin Tarantino, made a film for less than what it costs to buy a car, and constantly work with Danny Trejo, you're likely to want to leave a strong legacy in everything you do. Rodriguez has five children, and although they all have unique names, Racer is definitely at the top of the list.

21 Phyllon Gorré

Model Doutzen Kroes and DJ Sunnery James are an extremely good-looking couple with a set of unique names themselves. It's no surprise that they came up with the name Phyllon Gorré for their child.

The name is often included in compilations of "weird" names for celebrity babies because it doesn't really seem to have a meaning. Some people have even mentioned that it sounds as if their child is named after a character from Star Trek.

The accent at the end adds a nice touch.

20 Dusty Rose

Imagine having a rock star as a dad and a model as your mom. You're definitely set to have a different childhood—and life—than what others expect. You'll probably spend time in red carpets and yachts, right?

Dusty Rose actually sounds kind of poetic. This is the name Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo chose for their daughter. And yes, she's already witnessed her father getting a star in Hollywood's Walk of Fame even though she won't remember a thing.

19 Gravity

If you have parents with names like Stormi Bree and Lucky Blue Smith, you might just end up keeping the family tradition of names that stand out. Stormi Bree and Lucky Blue Smith named their child Gravity.

Considering that it's an important force of nature, having a name like Gravity sets you up for huge expectations. At least it's proof that scientific concepts can make for cool names as long as you know which one to pick. Just don't name your kid after the theory of relativity.

18 Chicago

Some people name their kids after a grandmother or grandfather.

If you're Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, you might decide to name your child after a city or a cardinal direction of some kind.

Chicago is actually kind of normal. It's a cool city to be named after. However, there are more common city names for kids such as Denver or even Dallas. Leave it to Kimye to march to the beat of their own drum and name their child after Kanye's hometown.

17 Ace Knute

Ace Knute is a different, yet restrained choice for a name. Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson chose Knute for a sweet reason. Johnson's paternal grandfather was Swedish, and Knute is a nod to him.

Ace is cool on its own, but together with Knute it definitely sounds distinctive. As celebrity names go, this is unique-sounding, but not too unusual. Plus, it shows that some names really are chosen with family in mind. Let's remember that auntie Ashlee Simpson named Ace's cousin Mowgli.

16 Bear Blu

Alicia Silverstone won our hearts with the role of Cher in Clueless. She's also a principled activist for animal rights and promotes a healthy vegan lifestyle.

She seems exactly like the type of person that would name her son Bear Blu. Though the name is a bit peculiar, it sounds right when you say it all together. Silverstone is raising her son to be a vegan, so naming him Bear seems a bit ironic. Still, it seems he'll grow up to be a compassionate young boy.

15 Kulture Kiari

Kulture Kiari is definitely a unique name. As names go, it makes its bearer sound strong. Cardi B and Offset definitely seem to have strong personalities, and the hip-hop skills to back this up.

Though some people criticized Cardi B and Future for naming their child something so different, Cardi B gave a good explanation as to why this name was chosen. She tweeted, "anything else woulda been basic." Well okay then.

14 Blue Ivy

Beyoncé is the queen. That's why she's chosen names that bestow her regal roots to her children. Blue Ivy, Sir, and Rumi are not only unique, but they're classy names.

Blue Ivy was meant to be said in combination. You can't just call the daughter of the queen Blue or Ivy. The name made it to this list because there's no actual Blue Ivy, but it sounds awesome. Sir is an honorable mention because it automatically makes us think of knights.

13 Denim

Denim is a fabric we all love. It's usually the main component of our jeans and some of our jackets. It's also the name of Toni Braxton's son.

The name definitely gets into lists of "weird" names for the children of celebrities. As celebrity baby names go, at least she named him after a fabric we all know and love.

We're really glad she didn't opt for something else like polyester or corduroy. Maybe another celebrity will surprise us with these choices.

12 Rocket Zot

We know Sam Worthington for being the only human to be worthy of becoming a Na'Vi on Avatar. The film was known for taking so long to make because James Cameron had to invent the technology necessary to make it.

We're not sure if Worthington left the set with an inordinate amount of inspiration, but something had to spur his desire to name his child Rocket Zot. Thankfully Rocket is still three. The shouting matches when Rocket Zot turns 13 will probably be legendary.

11 Hal Auden

Leave it to Benedict Cumberbatch to name his child after something inspired by Shakespeare. Hal Auden made it to this list because you won't actually know this unless you're a classically trained actor.

According to the Daily Mail, Henry V was nicknamed Hal. Plus, his friend Tom Hiddleston played Henry V. The rest of us uncultured swine will forever walk around thinking Benedict Cumberbatch just made this up. Just goes to show that a parent's love for their job will influence how they name their kids.

10 Bear Blaze

Kate Winslet is an Oscar-winning actress with a ton of confidence. You'd have to be to have a child and make the bold choice of naming them something that sounds totally made up.

Winslet said she named her child Bear Blaze because she and her husband met when a house went up in flames. When they had their child they wanted to remember the reason why they met. We're just glad that Kate Winslet survived the fire and found a way to remember this.

9 Suri

Suri isn't exactly a name with no origin, it just isn't popular in many English-speaking countries. Daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, Suri Cruise is the most famous person with this name.

According to Nameberry, Suri is a variant spelling of Sarah. It's actually of Hebrew origin and means princess. Now we feel bad after assuming this is just something celebrities made up. Suri Cruise's name is proof that you don't have to reinvent the wheel to stand out.

8 Buddy Bear

Bears are very popular with celebrity parents. But not to worry, Jamie Oliver made sure Buddy Bear didn't feel alone. His other children also have interesting names, such as Poppy Honey, Daisy Boo, Petal Blossom (this one gets a pass), and River Rocket.

At least Jamie Oliver has the support of his wife, Jools. She once mentioned that "It's nobody's business" if the couple decides to name their child after a toy from the My Little Pony line of toys.

7 Moroccan

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon had a beautiful child they decided to name Moroccan. As cultures go, this is a great option. Morocco has an amazing history and is known for its great food. Then, they didn't tell the world why—at least for a while.

It turns out Mariah Carey was living in a place known as "the Moroccan room" when Cannon proposed to her. The location was important to her, and she decided to name her son after this room.

6 Apple

Some celebrities really seem to like fruits, and no one seems to be around to tell them there's a reason people don't name their kids after them.

When asked why she named her daughter Apple, Gwyneth Paltrow responded by mentioning it was her ex-husband's idea. Yes, Apple has this name thanks to Chris Martin.

Still, the actor said the name suits her daughter well. We're sure that if you've been called something your entire life, you'll grow into it eventually.
