We're a big fan of a celebrity when we think that they seem honest, genuine, and real. Basically, we want a famous person to act like a non-famous person, or like one of us. We want to feel like we could be best friends with the singer, actress, or star in question, and when we feel like we can relate to them, we're always going to follow their career with a smile on our faces.

One celebrity who we can all agree seems real is Cardi B. The 25-year-old singer is known for her hit singles "I Like It" and "Bodak Yellow." She recently had her first baby and both her pregnancy and birth were written about a lot. We love seeing how stars deal with their pregnancies and how they raise their children. Cardi named her baby girl Kulture.

While we know the Kardashian clan, and know a lot about Kim Kardashian West in particular thanks to their reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians and social media, our hearts belong to Cardi B because of her realness. Read on to find out 20 ways Cardi B is more real than the Kardashians, along with two times that Kim was everything.

22 Growing Up

We wouldn't necessarily say that a celebrity is very real if they grew up super wealthy and had everything that they could ever possibly want. We don't even relate to people that we know who aren't famous but who have tons of money.

One reason that Cardi B is so real is because, according to Harper's Bazaar, she grew up in the South Bronx with two parents who worked.

She wasn't a child star and she didn't grow up like some of the other stars that we hear about who have never known anything outside of the fabulous lifestyles that they have today.

21 She Gets Real About This

Some celebrities have surgery in order to make some modifications to the way that they look, and honestly, a lot of them don't want to be honest about it. When they're asked the question during an interview, they say no, they didn't do that. Not Cardi B.

The singer is also real because she has talked about having some physical changes done. As Glamour Uk said, "Cardi has admitted that her decision" was because she was "feeling insecure about her own body when comparing it to other dancers." It's awesome that she opens up about this because there's no reason not to.

20 Life As A Mom

Moms know that having a baby is the best but also tough.

When Cardi B was interviewed by Vogue, she was honest about the fact that, yup it's true, being a mom is hard.

She said, “Moms always give advice like, ‘Oh, when you have a baby things change, you will see, it’s not easy.’ It’s true. No matter how many books you read—cuz [sic] I read some books—you just really have to have a baby to see. I just want to say that I respect mothers more than ever now. I see moms differently, especially the young ones that, like, are so young and barely have experience or money. I don’t even know how they can do it.”

We love that she admits that it's hard, even though she's a celebrity. She still keeps it real.

19 Getting Political

Latina.com says that "Cardi isn’t just big in the music scene, she’s even used her platform to discuss important political issues."

The publication mentioned that Cardi B made a video for Billboard and talked about when the NFL was in the news a lot for the taking a knee thing. Cardi B said, “Don’t be so hard on these players. It may seem like sometimes it’s not enough but these people need their jobs too.” We love that she talks about politics and that she's not afraid to. When someone is famous, they have a large platform, and it's really cool when they use it.

18 Working Her Way Up

We could assume that celebrities have always been rich and famous and they've always had the career that they do now. But unless someone was a child star, that's not really the case. For Cardi B, she got her start like many of us and she worked hard.

Harper's Bazaar said, "One thing many people don't know about Cardi B: as a teenager, she worked the cash register at an Amish Market in TriBeCa, on a salary of $250/week."

If we didn't think that she was real before we found this out, we definitely do now. Maybe some of us worked retail or at a grocery store as well and we can relate to this.

17 She Just Seems So Real

Nothing is more annoying than a celebrity who is full of themselves and wants everyone to wait on them. It's tough to be a fan of someone like that because we barely want to be friends with someone we know IRL who has a big ego.

As The Guardian put it about Cardi B, "Part of her appeal is that she could be any girl you know." That is so true and that's why Cardi B has so many fans. She doesn't act conceited or like she's better than everyone. She doesn't seem to only hang out with other famous people or even talk about being famous. She's just honest and she has opinions and we think that she's really cool.

16 Wanting It All

Can a woman have it all? This is a big question and something that we ask ourselves on a daily basis.

Can a woman start a family, have a great marriage or relationship, have a career, and do anything else that she wants?

It's not an easy thing to answer and it's why we're so interested in asking if a work/life balance can happen.

For Cardi B, according to The Huffington Post, when asked about having a career and a baby she said, “Why can’t I have both?” We love this so much and it's yet another way that she keeps it real.

15 True Friends

In a story on Mashable about amazing things that Cardi B has said, she says that she wants to be around people who are anything but fake and gives advice about not having fake friends.

This is something that we can absolutely all relate to. We have all been in a situation where we have stayed friends with someone even though we thought that they had changed and just weren't that nice anymore. We have also all experienced a friendship that seemed one-sided or like it wasn't really doing anything for us. It's so awesome that Cardi B talks about things like this.

14 Shopping Spree

Narcity says that even today, Cardi B goes shopping in the Bronx, and that is so cool.

We would probably think that celebrities shop at only stores that sell designer clothing. Or perhaps they don't even do that because they hire a bunch of stylists to do the shopping for them. Or maybe they only wear clothing that has been designed for them and them alone.

Not Cardi B and we love her for it.

Now we're thinking that it would be so much fun to go shopping with her one day. We bet that we would get along so great.

13 Just Be Yourself

The NY Post quoted Cardi B who said, “It was my personality that got me where I’m at. So, I can’t tell anybody to do this or that and be on Instagram. But I will tell you that you can use your personality and be bubbly and be yourself in any field that you’re in. That alone will take you far, for real.”

She believes that being yourself is the best idea. And we can really get behind that, can't we?

This is what we want to tell ourselves every day and it's also what we want to tell our children.

12 Taking A Beauty Risk

We may have seen photos of Cardi B rocking some blue hair this past August and we all thought that it was awesome.

She took a beauty risk and it paid off so well.

According to Bossip, Cardi B's hairstylist, Cliff Vmir, told Refinery 29, "I think we work so well together because Cardi is crazy and daring. You never really know what she’s going to do and say. She did just get gifted a blue Lamborghini and she was like, ‘Cliff, I gotta get that color,’ and she was so happy. I mixed together four different dyes and we got exactly the color she wanted."

11 She's A Feminist

Mashable quoted Cardi B saying that she's a feminist: "But being a feminist is real simple; it’s that a woman can do things the same as a man. Anything a man can do, I can do. I can finesse, I can hustle. We have the same freedom. I was top of the charts. I’m a woman and I did that. I do feel equal to a man."

This is yet another time that she has spoken her mind and we have absolutely loved it. We need more celebrities to talk about important subjects such as feminism, and thankfully, these days we are hearing things like this more and more.

10 No Competition Here

Being competitive is never a good idea, but some people act that way naturally, whether they're famous or not.

Cardi B is really sweet about there being room for everyone to find success, which is totally what we would expect from her.

The Guardian quoted her as saying, "People are putting me in competition with really great, big artists. When I do music, I don’t feel like it’s competition. Then again, it kinda is, but I don’t like thinking like that. And I don’t understand why they do that to women, and especially women in hip-hop.” So sweet... and definitely so real.

9 Shy Girl

Narcity says that Cardi B is really shy, and that's not always what we expect from someone who is famous. Actually, we might never assume that a famous person would be on the shy side. This is definitely another thing (among many) that makes her relatable and real and it's a cool thing to learn about her.

If we're shy people, we love that she is, too. It doesn't seem like many celebrities are shy but of course some of them must be since celebs are human beings, too, and they have all kinds of different personalities.

8 Privacy, Please

Sometimes, a celebrity will want some privacy surrounding one area of their life. We saw that when Kylie Jenner wanted to keep most of her pregnancy private. And we also saw that with Cardi B's pregnancy.

As the Huffington Post reported, she said that she's "given y'all so much" and has shared a lot with her fans and the public, and she wanted to keep her pregnancy private for a little while.

We can see why she would feel that way and we think that it's a good idea. Some things do need to be kept out of the spotlight and starting a family is one of those things.

7 Bank Account Advice

We would never think that a celebrity would talk about having a budget, mostly because why would they need to follow one? The rest of us are trying to follow a budget, mostly to buy groceries (because we all know how quickly buying food can add up), but celebs? Why would they?

According to Mashable, Cardi B thinks that a budget is a good idea, and that's really cool. More than that, it's yet another reason that she is so real. She said,  "You wanna know how rich people like me stay rich? By staying on a budget." That does make a lot of sense.

6 No Fancy Cars Here

We might be surprised to learn that Cardi B doesn't have a fancy car or any car at all. Or maybe we're not shocked at all because as we have seen, she is so relatable and she's so different from so many other famous figures. We really see her as a genuine person.

As Harpers Bazaar reported, Cardi B doesn't know how to drive, and she doesn't have a car. She grew up taking the subway.

Moms know that a car is pretty useful for driving kids to activities, sports games, and doctors appointments, but if you live in a city, the subway does work really well.

5 Post-Baby Body

There are countless media reports about what a celebrity mom looks like after she has a baby and whether she has lost the baby weight or is back to her pre-baby weight. It's so much pressure and we know that we have all felt that pressure, too, even before we had kids.

According to Vogue, it took Cardi B longer for her post-baby body to heal and recover than she assumed. How many of us can relate to that? All of us, right? She said, “I didn’t [think] it would take my body so long to heal, like, I thought six weeks was gonna be good enough." It's so awesome to hear her talk about this.

4 Her Personality

Glamour UK says that Cardi B "has no filter" and swears a lot... and that's yet another reason that fans love her so much. It's just so amazing to see someone who is famous but speaks their mind.

We don't want someone who only speaks in what sounds like sound bites or who seems to be rehearsed and formal all of the time.

We want to be a fan of someone who feels more relatable, and we can say that about Cardi B. Having no filter is actually a pretty good thing because it means that we're not scared to be honest and real.

3 Only Body Positivity Here

Latina.com talks about how great it is that Cardi B is body positive. She often talks about the physical changes that she undergone and that she was a dancer. Body positivity has become a movement and it could also be called a trend.

While it might sound strange to say that it's trendy and popular to love your body and be nice to yourself, we can't argue with how needed this kind of talk is. We've all had days where we compare ourselves to famous people and wonder if we should look differently, and it's really incredible to look to stars like Cardi B who love themselves. It makes us realize that we should all treat ourselves well.

And here are two reasons we love Kim...
