Parenting is hard enough without having to do it in front of millions of people. The Gosselins took on that challenge in 2007 when they signed with TLC to document their lives with eight children under three years old. Eventually, things came to a halt when the two decided to call it quits. But that hasn’t stopped mom, Kate from sharing her life while raising her kids.

She gets a lot of flak between her role as a mother to her eight children and as a former wife to her ex-husband. But the reality is, none of us know how hard it is to be a parent to that many kids and to do it all on national television. Having your whole life filmed means ten times more judgment than you would have received had it not been aired for the world to see.

For a woman who has been in the public eye for more than ten years, she holds her own and keeps her sanity pretty well. Each of her children is well-behaved and seems to be on the right track in life, which has to say something about her parenting in the long-run, doesn’t it?

It is important to remember that everyone goes through their rough patches at different times and that doesn’t make them a bad person. Judgment is never necessary.

20 How Do You Deal With The Comments?

Kate gets so much hate—whether it be the way she treated ex-husband, Jon or the way she disciplines her children. The hate knows how to find her.

Hatred can be hard for some individuals. It may cause some people to shut down and come to believe that they deserve to be criticized this way.

Kate understands that hate comes from being in the public eye. She has also come out and admitted, according to Us Magazine, that she would go out and do it over and over because it gave her the opportunity to share her and her family’s story.

19 Tattling With Eight Kids?

Back in 2010, Kate took to social media to plea for parenting help. Every parent who has more than one child deals with tattling once in a while. One of them hit the other or used a toy that belonged to someone else.

As reported by Chicago 5, Kate has had to tell her children on multiple occasions that she is not the “complaint department,” and to handle it themselves.

That may sound harsh, but when eight different children have separate complaints several times a day, it can be hard on a single parent. The only thing she could do was to give them some motherly advice on how to handle it and then send them on their way.

18 Did You Want To Be A SAHM?

Parenting on live TV can be scary for anyone—celebrity or not. Kate Gosselin is somebody who regularly gets flak for the way she parents, but from what filming has picked up, each of the Gosselin children is very well-behaved.

What's essential about parenting for the cameras is not to change one’s ways just because the cameras are around. Kate knows this first hand. Regardless of whether they are filming or not, Kate is not afraid to discipline her children.
